Sheridan almost finished...just a bit more drying and some buffing. Not bothered about the hardware, just polished the ball chain.
Couldnt get the staining out of the back pocket but as the bag is for me Im again not bothered. Its cleaner.

This is the before photo of the staining...nothng shows on the leather at all.

That colour is so nice!!! I've only ever come across navy.

I love the softness of this style. If only I could find one that isn't faded or stained.
I browsed for them after you recommended it but realised it doesn't have a back pocket  !
Resolene isn’t good unless you have a spray gun that can distribute a “mist” of it evenly on the surface. Also, it’s very streaky & in general a bit of a PITA to work with because it’s very watery. I highly recommend it to re colour strap edges & touch up piping though, that’s the only thing I use mine for.
Is all that expensive? :hrmm::sad:

Good to know. Hmm… maybe I should just bite the bullet and get black rocks.

The cheapest option of getting BR in Canada is ordering it from here:

Credit to @LunaSilver, she posted about it first & that’s how I got mine

Resolene is about $8 a bottle for the Fiebing’s one but there’s not much colour variety & yes, the spray gun is expensive. Plus, as Luna pointed out, it would be too shiny looking. Resolene is good on faded edges & small areas of piping cause 1-2 small swipes won’t make it look bad. It’s when you try covering large surface areas or doing multiple coats that it becomes a fail imo.

It's hard to tell. What did it look like before you bathed it? Did it have those stains? It looks like something was spilled on it.
These pics are before the bath. I could see the stains but there didn't seem as noticeable. I was hoping that someone might have ideas to try and get them out before I oil it.

I searched this thread and found the perfect solution supplied by our @LunaSilver! Please have a look at the post above. I'm off to place an order with Amazon!
I took a look at the picture of your strap again, and feel it should be color touched prior to burnishing, as it will be hard for any color correction after that. Sorry my suggestion will cost you more money buying more product , lol, but the Roma purple leather dye sold by lonesdale leather in Vancouver seems will match the color of your bag, even if it is not a perfect match, it will only be used on strap edge, after burnishing, the result should be ok.
I did a quick burnishing this morning on the dyed light weight shoulder bag strap, the burnished edge did get a bit darker. ( see photos for comparison)
If you decide to do the burnish, there are lots of YouTube videos you can watch, use only a little bit Tokonole, since you can always add more if needed, and clean off any excess while it is still wet.

ETA: the Roma Dye

Thank you so much, @LunaSilver !!! Your feedback and photos are so helpful!!! :hugs:

I love the look of the dyed burnished edge and am so excited to develop this new skill!!! What are your thoughts on me using acrylic paint/CPR as @whateve suggested? I have the paint here, can probably get a close colour match, but wonder if burnishing an edge that has had acrylic paint/CPR is even possible?

Here again is the closeup photo of one of the straps:

sorry really have no idea how paint will react to burnishing, you may not need to burnish it at all, usually the strap edge will look nice after touching up with paint.

As I really want to learn this new skill, I will hold off on colour refreshing the edges and try burnishing when the supplies arrive. Thank you, @LunaSilver ! :flowers:

i’m soooo excited to be getting this bag ! anyone had success with rehabbing a older coach ( not too old but it has the glued on reg.number )
what did you use to clean and restore it ?

I recently rehabbed a Handle Clutch 9425 and I think it is the same bag. I gave it a bath and conditioned it and it came out well, see the link below:

My latest rehab, 4050 light weight collection Shoulder bag in Burgundy.
it was very dry and faded, color didn’t come back from dunk and conditioning. In fact a dark spot appeared on the front flap after dunk. (Didn’t take photos of before / in process). I end up color fresh the whole bag with Feibing’s Burgundy leather dye(usually prefer pro dye, but already got the regular dye on hand). The color of bag now is several shades darker, but it hide the dark spot on the flap and other stain marks well, so I am ok with that. The thing with leather dye is hard to control the shade of final color, it will be very depend on how much dye used. @lazysundays, I saw your speckled green court, it is possible to color fresh the whole bag with green leather dye, if you are generous with the amount of dye going to use, the green will be in darker shade, may be able to hide those darker spots. )Only if you out of other options, since things can go wrong with a dye job)
