Oh WOW! You removed the trim! How did you do that? I went a little crazy with dunking bags and gave my vintage made in NYC (purchased new in 1983) Classic Pouch a bath. Big mistake! Now the leather has peeled from the piping in several places and it's freaking me out. I purchased some leather glue and carefully glued it back but the bag is no longer in the pristine condition it was before I bathed it. I will post pics later.

Thanks for sharing!

yes the trim was already missing in spots (where it’s torn) so I decided to replace the whole thing as I would prefer one seamless piece. I removed With a seam ripper. I’m currently waiting on my leather strip to arrive and will attempt to hand sew back into place.

So I'm admiring all of the bags in this pic and drooling (wipes spittle away from mouth with back of hand)! Anyway, I moseyed to King of Prussia Mall yesterday and of course ended up in the Coach store. While wandering around I stumbled into the back of the store and lo and behold! ... There are a PLETHORA of vintage Coach bags on display! I actually grunted when I rounded the corner and saw the 1993 Willis Bag in case. My nose was pressed against the case and I was pawing at the glass trying to get to the bag. When I looked up, there was a shelf against the wall that contained a vintage Stewardess and several Dinky bags a well. I see your Dinky and Pocket Bag but what is the third small bag next to the Patricia's Legacy? At the Coach store there was a smaller bag that looked like a Dinky but was much smaller than any Dinky I've ever seen. I will post pics shortly.

Thanks!

thank you. The smallest bag is a Emmie in British Tan. There is also pictured a Madison Satchel in Tabac (I think, still working on that one). The pocket purse is the 2nd in my collection and the Dinky is my first. I’m pretty excited about that one. Then the Patricia. I really love mini coach bags. The Emmie was the most expensive so far. I hope to have a Winnie one day.

Rayrob87,

Thank you so much for this! I'm thinking of getting some black leather dye and applying it to the piping. I really don't feel comfortable removing the piping myself. I'm not that confident of a rehabber yet!

Please keep us in the loop as you restore the piping!

Random question for the group - for folks who use a Dremel or similar rotary tool to polish hardware, what’s your technique?

You all convinced me to go from polishing only to removing hardware/steel wool/polishing, and I can’t go back! But the steel wool step is killing me, and it’s holding me up. I’m looking to use a Dremel to help with the challenge of that detail work, but I’m not sure how to translate my current steps into steps with this tool and it’s various attachments. Any thoughts or guidance welcome!

Thank you for listing the mahogany bags! I didn't recognize the Emma! She's such a lovely bag!

Just got a squished Madison Carlyle bag in taupe, it's great condition no odors, looks like it wasn't used much, if at at all. Didn't want to dunk it because I completely ruined my last Carlyle bag that way. So I slathered it with renapur stuffed it with a towel and hung it in the spare room that isn't air-conditioned, and tah day! Perfect!View attachment 5133520View attachment 5133522
It’s gorgeous! I think the color is granite, sort of gray-brown.
