i don’t think it was mold, the bag had no signs of it before the dunk, no stains no smell. I was thinking of doing vinegar regardless but I just don’t want to mess it up more than it already is  hopefully it gets better with time, just wish I had enough patience to not feel sad by it every time I look at it. Wish I knew what caused this with this bag:confused1:

I would wait until the bag is fully dry before assessing the extent of the wear. My currant Willis had weird marks on it when it was wet but dried back to normal.

I did, however, rehab a jade Cooper last year & the dunk revealed darkening along the front that never went away. I hope your Chrystie has a better outcome. Please post an update when it’s dry

The bag felt pretty dry. I’m wondering if because I preconditioned it, maybe the conditioner was more saturated in those areas and the water sticks there longer?
I decided to dunk it one more time, lightly scrubbed with a toothbrush, added some vinegar and dawn. Let it sit for a bit in warm water, drained the soapy water, rinsed it and then let it sit for an hour in clean warm water, and then pat it as dry as I could inside and out with paper towel. Now I’m hanging it to dry. I’ll keep you guys posted. Fingers crossed

Do you use CPR on your bags after dunking?

In some slightly better news…
I purchased angelus leather paint in English tan for my BT court that was a little worn along the bottom after trying to brush out a pen mark. I had read that English tan was a perfect match for BT but not really in my case… well it did match pretty well on the not worn parts, but on the lighter parts it just made it very yellow… was not a fan.. I dunked it and let the dye run and it looked much better, still a little light. I ordered some black rock and it finally arrived today! One coat of it and it already looks INSANELY better.
forgot to take before pics but here’s after 2 coats

If all else fails with my jade bag hopefully black rock can fix it.

I do. I used it an hour after dunking and I did another coat the next day before it was dry. I’m thinking about not applying the CPR this time until it’s fully dry so I can better assess the stains.
Yeah, wait until it's fully fully dry to be sure. I had a bag show a few small dark stains when about 80 per cent dry that was completely gone once 100 per cent dry.

Hi! Just wondering if anyone has any tips to rehab a 9827 Legacy West Backpack? The leather is in good condition but the bag's overall shape is pretty flattened due to how if was shipped and it's previous storage. Can I get away with the typical dunk, stuff, and condition or are there other steps I should take?

I once rehabbed a red Legacy West Backpack 9827 and I gave it to my neice, it also needed reshaping, see the links below. (Note: I've edited this post and links to provide more info and more before and after pics).

Please post pictures of your bag so that we can best advise you.

Usually the best way to reshape a bag is to give it a sink bath in blue Dawn Dish soap (or Ivory) - rinse well and then stuff it with towels to shape it and let it slowly dry.

The next day remove the towels but be careful to maintain the shape and let it continue to dry, turning it occassionally. If the bag has a lining, like the Legacy West, then pull the lining outside as much as possible without damaging the bag to let it dry.

During the drying process start applying a couple of applications of a leather moisturizer like Leather CPR. When it is all dry buff it with a soft brush. If the bag has tarnished hardware then you may also wish to use a metal polish like Brasso or Wenol to shine up the hardware.

BTW, also below is information about your Legacy West BackPack when it was first introduced by Coach in 2002, good luck with your rehab!

Nice surprise..my NYC Dinky is in the Purseforum Roundup

I've been around long enough, you'd think I would know what the Purse Forum Roundup means!

Anyone??? TYIA!!!

Here's the link, it looks great, congratulations!

Good news and bad news.
Bad news is there are still marks on my jade chrystie. Good news is they’re much lighter than before!
This gives me some hope that I might be able to get rid of them or at least make them less noticeable. I’m thinking of giving it a few more days to see if it fades on its own. But if it doesn’t, I’m gonna give it another wash with the vinegar, dawn, arm and hammer mix, gently scrub with a toothbrush and then do a longer rinse in warm water. I was a little low on dawn yesterday so maybe a more concentrated wash would help.

Each picture is the bag at about the same level of dryness. Hope is not lost!

Hi!
I've been collecting vintage Coach for some years now but only gotten into rehab this year. Nice to meet you all! I have a background in art and I'm super interested in getting myself into extreme rehabbing! I love reading and seeing people's work here. Amazing group of ppl! Happy to have found this space.

I have a question about white bags. I'm planning to rehab a NYC small shoulder (later known as #9530) in white. (The catalog says this wasn't made even in Bone so wonder whether this has been repainted?? ) Strap has discoloration as seen in pic. What would be the first step in correcting this color issues?
