Wow - it doesn't make sense to me why they'd use a plated ring if it's going to go through so much scraping and stress as the 'puller':hrmm::shocked:

I've had several where the ring was dull silver, like pewter.

Oooh, that might be my solution! Having a smooth surface is at least a visual improvement. I've thought a lot about whether I could paint the ring, but I'm fairly certain that would end in disaster.... It's just the early Basic Bags, with the glued serial numbers, that have the plated pulls?

I don't know. If it is the rough surface that is bothering you, I would use steel wool to buff it smooth.

It hard to believe that so many people just don't like Camel!!!

I love camel!

Absolutely gorgeous! The depth of the red is just stunning. What do your heated Renapur treatments entail? Do you heat it after application? I use Renapur or Black Rocks and recently gave Bick LP a go on a bag that has bled slightly since her bath. I'd like to find a technique or product that leaves a slight sheen on the bag while maintaining the visible texture of the leather -- like Renapur before it fully absorbs and dries.

I heat the Renapur with a hairdryer while it is on the sponge, which liquifies it before applying it to the leather. I also (very carefully) do some sweeps with the dryer over the bag to help the Renapur be absorbed. I love the result.

You know I am fan of the top stitched Bleecker family. I think you have this already, but why not! 1999 Preview

Has anyone used Saphir Juvacuir to refresh a faded bag? If so, do you dunk + CPR as normal & then apply the Saphir? Or will it not work on a CPR’d bag? TYIA for any response(s)

ETA: forgot to ask, but does it change the feel of the leather in any way?
I know Mrs. GAM has refreshed an entire bag. I used SJ for spot application to the piping and over scratches. I used it after dunking and the deep condition (CPR / LT) and before the final, either BR or Renapur. I did not notice a change in how it felt with the spot application. Let me go fondle it again to be sure

The link below is to my rehab. I don't know why it defaults to the description of another post.

I am such an idiot. LOL I did an entire refresh of my black Plaza with SJ. In this case, I had done it waaaay after I had finished the entire rehab the bag, which included Obenauf's Oil. So that is an option too. Let me go back and see if I put more BR on after I was done the refresh. Eta, I found and old post and I did put a very light app of BR on after.
And I forgot, I did the refresh with my black Pocket Purse too. No problems with further fading or transfer or suppleness of the leather on either.

I’ve never used SJ! I’ve used acrylic paint + Creme Surfine + CPR to refresh a whole bag. (Which I’m currently doing with my periwinkle Emmie.) I’m curious about SJ; I might experiment with DH’s shoes before I use it on a purse.

Oospie and okay! Thanks for clarifying. I equated refresh with Saphir Juvacuir. These two got the Juvacuir refresh. Since I am all about texture I can honestly say it did not change the suppleness of the leather.

Okay, all, it's experiment time! I've finally got myself some renapur, and I already have BR and Obenauf's LP. I'm going to wash all these bags at the same time and follow the exact same rehab process for each until the last step, at which point I'll try the 3 different products above, all applied in the same way: by hand with gentle heat applied after. We'll see! :D

Btw, the Tribeca flap is actually gray, not washed out black while the other bags are black. The comparison I'm looking for is shine and richness in the final product as well as ease of application/spreadability. Should be fun!
