I need a visual of this process as well. I use only a Swiss Army knife and it’s a PITA to get the hardware on. Taking is off is easier.

Haha, I meant a visual of what you’d have to do to get the hardware off since @laredouter98 was asking how to remove it but sure, I can share how I remove my hardware & then put it back on, although it’s the same as everyone else, I just re-bend the prongs with my tweezers & then use my pliers to push them down. I agree, putting it back on IS a PITA!

I agree. I can never get the two prongs on the back of the male piece flush like they were. The one on top always sticks out a bit. I always put my calendar in my bag where the bag itself or none of my wallets or wristlets will get scratched.

I can never get it flush again either but rounding the corners before pushing it down helps prevent the prong from scratching your stuff/hands

It looks to me as though it was dyed black and not properly "fixed". The dye then "broke" into its component colors and the excess ran out when you dunked. This is typical with fabric dyes. Don't know why one would use fabric dye on leather, but we are all fans of creative problem solving around here and as long as the bag is no worse for the wear it's all good.

Yes that makes sense, thank you for that info! Now with CPR I realised it's still losing a tiny little bit of purple but it looks GOOD after the dunk so I'm not bothered.
Also the smell is gone thankfully.
I looked at the leather with a jewelers loupe and I can still see all the pores and stuff so I figured I could just rehab as usual since it basically looks like all my other bags, and so far so good!

Also true about the creative problem solving, that's why I love the vintage leather! It's so sturdy!

Thanks everyone for your advice! I think I am going to attempt to take the turnlocks off and have a go at them with wire wool as the remains of the varnish on them is doing my head in, probably more than putting them back on will do. The new chain strap for my Court arrived today and while the hardware doesn't match, I am still looking forward to wearing them together. It's looking like my bags will be dry today so I'm looking forward to conditioning them later

Aaah that's where that one went :P. I'm glad someone got it. I had to choose between it and a green coach backpack so you've made my choice a lot easier

I was gonna upload all my pics for how I do my turn locks yesterday but then tpf was having some issues. I figure there’s no point now considering we all do the exact same thing & struggle with getting that back part flush like it originally was lol
