Definitely not an old bag but I'm not sure how to clean the corners of my Alexandra Chain Tote. Is it something I shouldn't clean? If I can what should I use? I'm confused with this one, lol.

ETA: Not my photo. My lighting isn't great in my house at night.

Is it the piping that is dirty or all the leather around that corner?. Start with cpr to clean and condition first and see how the corners look. Some of the newer styles dont repsond to dunking as well as the vintage.

It's genuine but I can't find the ebay listing or the seller for some reason.

The color looks like Mahogany.

Morning!

Here’s my Patricia...dunked, CPR’d, Renapured and brassware polished up.

Her rich patina is beautiful.

Already wrestling with letting her go...my day bag at the moment is my vintage Duffle Sac...do I really need another large bag? But she is so beautiful!

A few more yet to be shared with you...I’m really enjoying the rehab process and am so grateful for the knowledge and experience shared here.

Stay safe, always

Zoe xx

Hello Ladies,
I have an unused 18 oz bottle of Leather CPR that has a use date of 01/2016. I emailed Leather CPR but never received a response. :annoyed: The product's Safety Data Sheet references a shelf life of 36 months. Has anyone ever used Leather CPR pass the use date? Any response would be appreciated.

Many thanks :flowers:,

I always go by smell and texture when using things past their best by date, do you know the usual smell and texture it has? I don’t think it could hurt to try it.

Someone on another thread had expired CPR. I believe she used it without problem. @Iamminda
I can't imagine there would be a problem as long as it looks okay. It isn't like you are going to eat it. The only thing I can think of that might be happen is that the mixture could break down.

Thanks House!
My BT Helen’s Legacy isn’t unusually shiny but it feels plastic-y, and in all of the spots where it smushes and bends, it’s got a white cakey residue that make it look like the leather is cracking (it’s not). I’m not sure if this is a good way to tell, but the outside of the bag feels different from the pocket, which is really soft and lovely.
White cakey residue could be spue.

Yep, my CPR had a use-by date of 2018. I used it and it seemed ok — not sure if I would have had a better result (like even softer leather) if it had not expired. I did test a small part on the bottom of the bag before applying it everywhere.

I never even thought to check the expiration date of CPR. I have 4 big jugs of it that I bought when I was feeling super ambitious about rehabbing. I better get going on my rehab pile.

ETA: I finally have the building inspection happening today for the washer and dryer that I had installed in my bedroom closet. Once this project is finally put to rest, I can finish unpacking everything, buy some shelves for my bags and model horses, and get going on rehabbing again. It's been a long few months waiting for this to get done. My plumber was a putz and the brand new washer/dryer combo unit that I had installed is a lemon. It's broken! It was installed on Dec 4th and I still can't use it. I'm waiting for a part to arrive so they can come out and fix it. So I'm about $4,000 and 6 months into this project and I still don't have laundry in my home. I've been on a rehab pause the whole time but I'd like to get started again. Maybe after the inspector leaves I'll get my BT Beaumont in the bath. I also have a cute little red Lunch Box that needs a bath for reshaping! Super excited about that one.

This bag is so weird. I have never had a bag look worse when wet. Usually that's when they look flawless and I hope they dry that way. This bag has a million tiny little scratches that decided to show during the bath.

IMO neutral bags look awful when wet. Putty and chamois especially, they look like a shade of puke (apologies if you are having morning coffee). The stains and scratches and anything on the surface are highlighted. Most recede when drying.

The corners on my sky blue Rambler didn’t come back as I hoped after the dunk

That shade of blue is tough. It reminds me of my NYC dinky in white/bone and my periwinkle Maggie. With certain dyes, it seams like they don’t penetrate the leather, but instead sit on the surface. So conditioning doesn’t bring bag much color.
And I lust for those bright heartbreaker colors.
Did you add color to the fading in the last photo? That looks very good.

Did you buy it recently? If yes you should contact the seller to exchange. But if you had it pre 2016 , then no harm done to test it on a bag that is least favourite to you, if the CPR still appears ok to you.
This is what it looks like: thin lotion consistency, with almost no smell.

So I re-dunked it tonight and when it hit the water, there was a transparent white film over the whole bag that felt waxy. I scrubbed it off with the normal bath mix of dishsoap and vinegar and the leather already feels better. I wonder if it was one of the products I'm using, or if I'm using too much of something (Chamberlains balm maybe). I don't seem to be having this problem with any of the other rehabs (yet)...

Thanks: @fitzopolds; @whateve; @Iamminda; @Morgan_Bellini and @LunaSilver! I purchased the Leather CPR pre-2016 and never used it. It looks like the picture above from LunaSilver and it has no noticeable odor that I can detect. I'm going to test it out on a SLG item I have and update accordingly. Thanks again for the assistance! :flowers:
