Good Morning!Genuine, made in 1996
I think the Prairie is TaupeI’m the world’s slowest/most on-and-off-again rehabber. I lost some serious mojo after the holidays, and I’m finally coming back to tackle some projects from my rehab pile!
Right to left on the first pic, drying and first-round conditioned after a dunk:
Burgundy Basic bag (I’m obsessed with burgundy rn)
Mahogany? Prairie
Putty? Saddlery
Green City
...all authenticated by the wonderful folks on the AT thread, and using tips and tricks learned here from you all. Thanks - I’m grateful for the chance to learn and practice with this group!
She is very affectionate and playful. My husband was not a cat person, Tinker won him over too.Your bags are gorgeous, Luna, but the kitty wins my heart!![]()
Looks fabulous!Good Morning!
Here is my finished Zip Top (should this be one word or two...?) Shopper. She didn’t need a dunk, just a quick CPR, light coat of Renapur and a buff to her hardware (I’m now using a combination of wire wool/Autosol).
I used a small amount of E6000 to smooth down the areas that were lifting under-handle (thank you @seekingvintage and @lazysundays for advice).
I’m pleased with her results; black bags do seem to respond well to a little TLC.
More projects to be shared soon!
Stay safe everyone.
Zoe xx

This bag is so weird. I have never had a bag look worse when wet. Usually that's when they look flawless and I hope they dry that way. This bag has a million tiny little scratches that decided to show during the bath.

After a week of rehabbing my Pony I can officially say she’s finished! It took me days of cleaning the verdigris off before I even could dunk it, and god was that dreadful. I had to scrape it off but also make sure I didn’t smear it across the leather. View attachment 5012862View attachment 5012865
Before: The bag itself was in good condition, just dry and flat. The straps were stained with verdigris, which I asked about here. View attachment 5012870View attachment 5012873
And after! I conditioned it with CPR twice before dunking and it drank it up. I scrubbed the straps with a toothbrush dipped in vinegar before and after dunking, and it completely took the stains away. It got stiff after but I conditioned again twice because apparently it couldn’t get enough and it got back to soft and pliable. View attachment 5012886
and then something I found interesting, instead of saying “BALL CHAIN” like my other stamped chains, it’s stamped bead.
After this, I almost feel like I’ve completed my collection, which we know is never true (lol).
I’ve had that happen on BT before. It’s so weird. But it should dry back to normal. It will darken when you condition and fade again. Might want to use a horsehair brush to buff it in between coats of conditioner. Also, the type of conditioner matters. Leather therapy darkened scratches, CPR did not. This bag is so weird. It's looking better. I've done more BT now than any other color, and I've never had it do this before. Definitely adding all the CPR I can!BT is tricky to work with. It usually dries back to normal but I did have a bag that looked worse after dunking once. I hope it turns out well for you. If you have CPR, Id definitely give it a few extra coats. Good luck!
This is exactly what is happening. It was going back to normal, but I just put the first coat of CPR on and they darkened again. I think after a few coats of CPR and Blackrock it will be fine.Ive had that happen on BT before. It’s so weird. But it should dry back to normal. It will darken when you condition and fade again. How do you know when a bag has been shoe polished?
Thanks House! The leather looks super shiny, tacky to touch sometimes, sometimes you can see a wrinkling on surface when the leather is bent. Often you can see she tiny amount of the polish on the hardware.

On the whole bad smell topic, I also have a couple of cigarette smelling bags that I need to deal with. Being a veterinary nurse I’m wondering if the de-skunk recipe we give to people to wash their dogs with may be appropriate for this other purpose. It’s a little dawn, hydrogen peroxide, and...forum.purseblog.com
Maybe it was painted? Some people use Angelus leather paint. I have never used it so can't say for sure. Can you still see the grain? If not, it's definitely been treated with something. Thanks House!
My BT Helen’s Legacy isn’t unusually shiny but it feels plastic-y, and in all of the spots where it smushes and bends, it’s got a white cakey residue that make it look like the leather is cracking (it’s not). I’m not sure if this is a good way to tell, but the outside of the bag feels different from the pocket, which is really soft and lovely.
Thank you...the quality of the bag takes the credit to be fairLooks fabulous!
