Dunked my currant Willis today. Water looked like Kool Aid it was so clear and red. Rather nervous to touch the bag as it left dye all over everything it touched and I don’t want to stain my clothing. Glad I washed it wearing gloves.

Strongly second this!Look forward to seeing it completed...worth all the hassle for such a lovely colour
I remember seeing this one for sale...it had the creed in the front pocket.I finished the rehab (so far) on my late 80s Made in the United States Station bag. I wasn't sure I'd be able to help this one, it was super dry and faded. The second bath/cpr really evened out the color and brought back the shine. I haven't done anything to the worn edges yet. Not sure if I will do anything much. The strap is really beyond help so I'm saving it for the hardware.
This really surprises me. I've never had much bleeding from late 90s bags.Dunked my currant Willis today. Water looked like Kool Aid it was so clear and red. The edges look fine to me!I finished the rehab (so far) on my late 80s Made in the United States Station bag. I wasn't sure I'd be able to help this one, it was super dry and faded. Yes my black one the same age was like that too. I asked about it in the AT thread at the time and apparently they just did that sometimes.I remember seeing this one for sale...it had the creed in the front pocket.
What I would do is use a dry, white paper towel or Q-tip to wipe the green off the leather first. I find if I get the green wet, it leaves a dark mark. Then wipe all the brass down with straight vinegar to remove all the green and shine it up. Then if I fear mold, do a vinegar and water dunk before washing it, or if no mold fears I skip that step and just go straight to the wash. After a few coats of CPR have gone on, I do another vinegar wipe on the brass to clean off any accidental conditioning it may have gotten or green I missed. So my first vintage Coach has arrived and it's in better condition than I thought! There is some verdigris on the top handle so thinking I should dunk with a mix of vinegar in the water? What do you all think/suggest?

Lol @ looking weird! My currant bled too much not as much as yours! I only have one coat of CPR on it and then quit. I need to finish mine. Glad to hear she's looking gorgeous! We are back and we look weird now. Currant Willis got its first CPR today and is working on drying. She is gorgeous so far
I think light and red bags are hit or miss. My red Regina came out great, my yellow Regina didn’t come as clean, but I will say I zoned while washing it and when I looked at the end result wondered if I remembered to “scrub” certain parts or just let them soak.Hey wonderful rehabbers, I have a question
So Ive never rehabbed a coloured bag before but I have the opportunity to buy a red made in NYC vintage coach bag for a pretty decent price. The only issue is- the front has scratches!
So any of you that have rehabbed a red vintage coach or lighter coloured one with scratches, did it come out great or should I pass on this bag?
