I was thinking about that earlier and it seems true for me as well. Not everyone agrees with me but I find that the later 90s bags I've had have softer, more supple, leather than the earlier bags.

I waited almost a month for this guy to make it to me and it finally came! I wasn't in terrible shape, but it was dry. Of course I didn't get a before but here she is after! My daypack in leaf.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I could remove these spots and splotchy areas from this City? They became more noticeable after dunking! I’ve tried everything I can think of, including dunking again, cleaning, moisturizing and heat. Thanks!
The only experience I had was not successful. I used a microfiber cloth soaked with nail polish Remover, and scrubbed all over a shoe polished Devon, it removed the shoe polish, but rub away lots of color too. It still sit in rehabing pile right now. What are the latest theories in regards to rehabbing a bag that has been shoe polished? (Besides "don't buy it!") I found one in my rehab pile that may have been shoe polished.
In the past I have used rubbing alcohol and a lot of scrubbing, but are there other products or approaches that rehabbers have found successful (or semi-successful)? Thanks!
Also I haven't tried it on shoe polish, but Saphir Reno Mat leather cleaner is designed to strip old shoe polish from smooth leather, without damage the original manufactory color finish. What are the latest theories in regards to rehabbing a bag that has been shoe polished? I bought a 70th anniversary orange Willis for $15 plus shipping, knowing it may not clean up well. Here is before, after rehab, and after painted some flowers to cover up the stain. I am no artist, but the painting is under the flap, and I'd rather look at some childish flower paint over dark stains.
