What kind of leather degreaser do you use? I'm waiting for a rather beat up looking station bag that looks like it might need it.

I would be curious to see what happens if you degrease yours. I am hoping mine looks better as things progress. I can’t even plan to canniblize a Willis for a better handle as I can’t get any of the rings un screwed.

Valv used a product, called Leather Master Leather Degreaser. That’s what I plan on buying. Will def post when I do.
Eta Now I just recalled not too long ago there was other handle “ hand oil” removal talk and there was another product. It is discussed regarding vachetta. Will look for the thread later!
I just scrub Dawn soap on the greasy stain and sometimes it works. IIRC, the degreaser that Valv used on the purple Station bag a while back left the back of the bag looking mottled.

For the price of the bag, I would try to clean it with Saphir RenoMat cleaner first to see if it works.I tried on ink stain but didn't work. Not sure about grease.

Hiya! I received a rather disappointing eBay purchase, a Watermelon tote with the leather pulling out of the metal kisslock frame on the front (undisclosed in the listing ). I’m wondering if anyone has had experience with this type problem? I can take it to my local cobbler but my concerns:
-will it be an ongoing problem?
-will the attempt to repair it likely damage the leather wrap on the frame?
-something else bad...?

Have you had this work on other stains? I have a darkish stain I’m trying to get rid of. I dunked twice and rubbed a tiny bit of alcohol on it but didn’t work. Also tried the rubbing more dish soap on it and scrubbing. I wish I knew what it was but I can’t really tell. It probably is a lost battle...

It worked to a point on my pre creed watermelon tote.
It made the vertical stains in the front less noticeable.

I think it is skin oils built up on the handle. They looked gone after washing, but the handle became very dry very fast and when I used CPR, the darkness came back like a bad magic trick.

You should take it to a good local cobbler and ask for an opinion and then decide if it is worth it (if the shop is open right now!)

I had that same experience with my Cashin Small Shopper but the frame was metal not leather wrapped. The cobbler warned me that it was risky and that the frame might get bent during the repair but he said that it as "good strong steel" and he thought it would be okay - but he wasn't sure. I decided to let him try it and I was very relieved when it turned out great, see the links below.

But if the damage wasn't disclosed in the auction photos you might consider returning it and trying again later for a different bag? Good luck!

Very nice looking bag!

The seller originally refuted my complaint saying I should have zoomed in on one of the photos so I filed a return request thru eBay and now she has offered a partial refund so I'm debating whether to try to work with it or push for a full refund and return.

This is a pet peeve of mine. I think sellers should describe and point out defects like the torn leather on the kisslock pocket, not just tell buyers to zoom in on the photos. It’s like they’re saying “find it if you can, but I’m not going to tell you where to look.”

Could you post a picture? My watermelon tote handles are darkened so much, it looks like two tone. I don't mind it at all and consider it as character.

If you overall like the bag then maybe keep it. Depends on how much the partial refund is. The refund should at least cover the cost of repairs.
