Many Coach NYC era bags have short shoulder straps, which I found is not practical to use. I was waiting to find deals on substitute matching crossbody straps for several bags, but no luck yet. After seeing some other TPF members posting, I decided to give it a try on mix & match bag with strap. Here is the Putty Coach convertible clutch with BT Roots crossbody strap and a BT Coach hang tag, with a cat who is trying to hide from camera. Lol...

I have been thinking of using a bone strap and bone hangtag on a black Court which came without a strap. And if that works out, I might try other combinations.

Sounds good! Here's another suggestion, today is the last day of the YAYSPRING 30% off sale at Coach.com which also includes free shipping.

The Dinky straps are 48 inches long and come in silver, light gold, black copper, and dark gunmetal for only $24.50 shipped. The dogleash clips are small but that may work okay with many vintage bags.

I just bought a suede fringe dinky to rehab and it came with dark gunmetal and black copper straps, see pic below. I was impressed with the quality so I've ordered the gold and silver straps at the sale price - because I am always looking for straps (and hangtags!)

It will look really good with your gunmetal fringe dinky with that strap.
I have a gold and a silver dinky straps too, I found the gold strap is too polish & shiny for casual looking vintage coach bags, from the photos of Coach website, black copper seems too dark.
ETA: Also the feel of weight of metal strap is somewhat unpleasant. It weights about 0.5lb.

Here is after dunk, shape, 3 coats CPR, and finished with a coat of Saphir leather balm. She is glowing and the leather has a shine like burnished.
ETA: Bonus advantage of Saphir leather balm, it has high concentration of bee wax, the kisslock fram was wax polished by Saphir pretty good too.

And Have you got the other one yet?

I just finished a rehab but I have a new "favorite bag"! I love my black XL Ergo Tote with gold hardware. It was made in 2006 and the style number is 10744. I was surprised at how big this bag is, but she's an Ergo so she sits comfortably and securely on my shoulder.

It was a difficult rehab because the bag was really filthy, the auction pictures were concerning but it was much worse in reality - especially the interior. That beautiful Legacy Stripe Lining was disgusting. I paid $45 for it and that was too much considering the condition, but at least in came with the dustbag, I can't believe anyone cared enough about this poor bag to use the dustbag.

To rehab the XL Ergo Tote I washed, scrubbed, and laundered. Then I washed, scrubbed and laundered again - and again! I threw caution to the winds and used every solvent and spot cleaning agent in my cupboard.

There were a few stains on the lining that I was able to lighten but I just couldn't eliminate. This great bag withstood all that rough treatment very well and she looks much better. She will never be perfect but at least she is clean and I am comfortable carrying her.

The Before and After pictures are below. I thought that Renapur did a really nice job restoring the finish. I actually had an event to attend this afternoon and I carried my new-to-me XL Ergo Tote. I went to a socially distant Birthday Party. We all sat around on the driveway and kept an appropriate distance, it was nice!

Before XL Ergo Tote 10744 (why would anyone ever treat a beautiful and expensive bag like this?)

Ooh thanks for posting about this! Looks beautiful! I have the same bag but didn’t want to dunk it because I love it too much. At least now I know in the future if I mess it up somehow, I can dunk

It will look really good with your gunmetal fringe dinky with that strap.

Thanks! I agree that the gunmetal will look good with the suede fringe dinky!

And I know what you mean, some of the vintage bags look "collegiate" and informal, but I think the chain straps will go well with some of the vintage bags. The Dinky is modeled on a classic bag style and I think they may work with some bags like the structured Italian Coach bags.

Here is a pic of my beechnut Madison Gracie that is missing the original strap but I've substituted the lighter-weight chain strap that is sold at the coach outlets. I also like the fact that they are genuine coach straps and not expensive.
