It's pre-creed, right? I don't think they used glue on NYC bags.Yup, they just folded over the leather with glue under. There are no stitches obviously. It's held up find till I gave it a bath. So I'd say they used pretty good quality glue.

It has a stamp but no serial number IIRC.It's pre-creed, right? I don't think they used glue on NYC bags.
I didnt think they had glue.

If it's hard, probably can't do anything about it. I had something like that once. It was either from heat or chemical damage.Shall we play what's the stain? I dunked this guy and was really excited when that spot completely disappeared in the bath, however, as soon as the bag dried it was back! It's kind of hard and slightly raised, not sure what it is, maybe it's just part of its story.
Maybe clear nail polish?Shall we play what's the stain? I dunked this guy and was really excited when that spot completely disappeared in the bath, however, as soon as the bag dried it was back! It's kind of hard and slightly raised, not sure what it is, maybe it's just part of its story.
No I dont think so there is no coating or anything, I'm thinking its what @whateve said, its probably a burn.Maybe clear nail polish?
I worry that bag may have been painted with black shoe polish, especially in the picture of the scuff on the piping. Does the bag look shiny or feel like plastic at all?Hi everyone, I just got my first vintage bag in the mail. I'm stoked although in retrospect I feel like I paid too much in haste- 55. I can't believe the year I went to college is now vintage lol. Anyway I wanted to ask for some advice about what I should do in terms of polishing up this one. First off the strap is a bit stretched so it doesn't stay snugly on the brass ring. Any solutions for this? There's some scuffing on the piping and a few small spots here and there. Other than that, it's a bit grimy and smells like Bounce sheets. Think a dunking is warranted? Which products should I use on the leather? TIA! ♥️View attachment 4697432 View attachment 4697433 View attachment 4697434
I have the same mystery stains on the bottom of a BT sling bag. Didn’t budge either after dunking, conditioning.Shall we play what's the stain? I concur. If it's hard, probably can't do anything about it. I had something like that once. It was either from heat or chemical damage.
And to add to the mix, I put a suede bag in a flannel pillow case in a top loader with a tablespoon of baby shampoo on a recommendation here.Beautiful! I think that Ergo bags are some of the loveliest and most comfortable line of bags that Coach has made; you did a great job with the rehab.
I have also cycled bags through the washer when sink washing won't be sufficient. I put them inside a net laundry bag or tie them up in a pillowcase. I have used Woolite but I usually use Leather Therapy Laundry Solution and Leather Therapy Laundry Rinse and Dressing. These products are designed for Equestrian riders and Motorcyclists that wear a lot of leather. They are not cheap but they last a long time.

Condolences . Nothing worse than watching a promising rehab go to cr@p . In the space of 0 to 60.Ugh my bag is turning out so problematic! First of all, there's a huge spill of red nail polish inside that dried up. I can't see myself sitting there for hours with acetone to remove that so I left it alone. It's inside and no one can see and it doesn't bother me. You've already seen my stained hand. Now I'm stuffing the bag and see the leather on top of the pocket has come up. WTH? I didn't use very hot water.. slightly warm. Apparently that was enough. So if you ever wonder what the glue looks one under the folded leather.. here it is: View attachment 4698074
You're welcome. This thing is still bleeding color so I'm using grocery bags to stuff it with and she is going to be drying on a cardboard box. When I'm all done with this it's going to Goodwill. Lol!
Do you mean to rehab red bags? I am trying to get rid of things that don't work for me first so I have room for my reds when I do rehab them.Condolences . Nothing worse than watching a promising rehab go to cr@p . In the space of 0 to 60.
Lol eta, do you ever think of just going back to reds ??
Not particularly plasticy feeling, it's pretty soft. If it was polished, will it come off when I dunk it?I worry that bag may have been painted with black shoe polish, especially in the picture of the scuff on the piping. Does the bag look shiny or feel like plastic at all?
