So I've dunked dozens of bags by now, including a very old metal tag Courier, but I think my HG burnt orange Courier needs a bath and I'm absolutely terrified to do it. So far I haven't wrecked a bag but with my luck, this will be the one. It has some kind of coating on it that's coming off it white flakes and I'm thinking it's a waxy conditioner that a previous owner applied to it. I think a dunk in warmer water will help wash away whatever was put on it. Any thoughts?

This is also the reason I've been afraid to try Renapur. It's made with beeswax and now my brain associates this waxy junk on my courier with beeswax conditioner. Others who have used Renapur don't see this, right?

God nabit.. ugh I'm sorry about the courier! I feared that seller would so something unnecessary to that orange courier! I never used anything but CPR because I didn't want the color to darken!! Keep me posted how it works out!

Oh, it's not your fault! I know you wouldn't put something like this on a bag. And the bag is not ruined, it's still the stunning bag of my dreams. I just fear making it worse. I don't know what she put on it but I'm thinking she needs to stop by this thread for some schooling.

ETA: at least she didnt paint it!

Sweet deal was going to dye it and at that time she had her glitter plaza on sale so I was terrified she was going to do something like that to this bag which is why I bought it. Can you ask the seller what was done? I think when I looked her up as my buyer I saw she something like she works with/for a company that "reatores" bags. So she may not have personally rehabbed the bag herself. I don't think it can hurt to ask anyway.

I just sold two bags to sweet deal. Beautiful NYC vintage bags from my craigslist haul. I hope she doesn't mess with them, they were so lovely the way they were!

That's a good idea, I should ask her before I try to fix it. I don't want to make it worse. As it is right now, I just brush the flakes off every day thinking they'll eventually be completely gone.

I use renapur on all my bags, and put it on after I have used the bag for a week. Never has it caused a build up, I've even let it sit and not rubbed it in, and it just melts into the leather. I'm on my 3rd tub of it, and I use nothing else. Except cpr of course.

Advice needed! Got this great little shoulder bag on Mercari, but I want to try and flatten the flowers a bit. Some are really puckered from previous use, but I’m not sure how to do it. Thanks in advance!View attachment 4678733View attachment 4678735
Looks like the bag is flat shape. I would wet a hand towel with very warm water, then squeeze out as much water as possible, put the damp towel on top of the bag (flower side up so they are in contact with towel), funally put a heavy big book on top for a day (big enough to cover the whole bag), that should do the trick.
ETA: more options welcome. Hope I didn't give wrong suggestion.

Ok, good! Thank you! I just ordered 3 tubs of Renapur and all my rehabs in process are on hold until I get them. I'm so excited to try it!

Its really good for dry edges too! Maybe don't do anything to the courier yet, its always the bags we dont want to ruin that we do. Maybe a litte swiping with horsehair brush would help whatever is on there come off faster.

I would suggest stuffing the bag with dry towels to maintain its shape if you try this.

Have you used Renapur on yellow leather too? I washed my yellow Watson and only used CPR so far I want it to look like your yellow Regina.

Yeah, it's already part of my daily grooming routine. I groom my rabbits, then my dogs, then my Courier. :giggle:

I think you're right though, I'll wait on the dunking until I find out what was put on it, if the seller responds.

Yep quite a bit, and its never darkned it, I use it on all colors. I actually put it on all my bags once a month. I think its what saved my blue regina from my husbands kimchi spill all over her.
Monthly? Even if you don't use them? Hmm, I am all about low maintenance so that sounds like a little bit of work to me. Do you use the Renapur sparingly or can you use it without having to worry about overapplying, especially if you're doing it monthly?
