Ooh thanks for sharing! I’m going to try this. Is that before pic of the scratches after putting CPR? I have a black saddlery that was really scratched up, and it seemed to look way better after many (And I mean many) coats of CPR and one coat of Blackrocks but now that the Blackrocks faded away, those scratches are starting to show a bit again. I wanted to see if there was a better solution.
I applied it to a bag that had not been cpr’d in the picture. I tried it on a bag that I had applied cpr to and it didn’t seem to work as well so I’m going to clean off the area of that bag and try again. The instructions on the website say to condition after I think.

Thanks! It does say it “moves the color” around to cover the scratches and maybe the CPR prevents that? I talk like I know what I’m talking about but I really don’t, haha! I’m going to try this product anyway! Thanks for recommending.

Finished my precreed Dinky. She wasn’t in horrible condition to start. I did dunk, but in tepid water and for about 10-15 minutes including scrub time. Rinsed with cool water, reshaped. A couple coats of cpr and a coat of Renapur and she’s good to go. Also removed and polished turnlock with mothers by hand. Did not dunk strap, but did use cpr and Renapur on it. Polished strap hardware with dry polishing cloths because it’s plated, otherwise I would have used steel wool. Over all I’m happy

The cpr almost acted as a barrier. It seemed to ball the product up and did not allow penetration.

I just rehabbed this exact bag (precreed also) too but I didn’t know the hardware was plated and I used brasso and steel wool! I can’t really see anything wrong with it (see pic). As a newbie, what did I do to the hardware unknowingly?

I don’t have a before pic for mine but I did similarly as you but with warm water for 20 minutes including rinse and scrub. Reshaped and 3 coats of cpr with buff inbetween and a coat of Blackrocks. Took the hardware off and used brasso and steel wool. I did dunk the straps too. On the strap hardware I didn’t use brasso or steel wool, just some vinegar with a toothbrush to scrub while in the bath. Mainly because it looked clean and I was lazy... I hate polishing.

The turnlock is solid brass but for the plated pieces I would be afraid of rubbing the plated brass off with the steel wool and being left with a grey piece of metal (whatever is under there). But I was always under the impression that the nautical HW was solid, which these clips are.

Oh ok, whew. Good thing I was lazy about the strap hardware! That’s interesting that the nautical hardware was plated. I’ll have to remember this piece of info when rehabbing them.

I have had lobster claws with anchors on them that were solid and I used steel wool on. But they were younger than these. It seems like the really old stuff is plated.
Gotcha. I wonder when exactly they switched over from plated to solid.

Anyway. Your rehabbed precreed dinky looks great! I love this little style, mainly because of the detachable double strap. When I dunked mine I really feared the rehab would go south. I don’t think I would’ve been brave enough but something on it was giving me allergies.
