Got these 2 squashed, scratched, and gross lovelies today! Aaaaand guess what! The black one had a half of a tooth in it! Yay! Ewww.
Lovely.
Had to be very careful opening it...cutty implement too close to leather not good...had no other wrapping...just stuffed into the bag and so much celetape.
How do you do feedback on something packaged like this without coming off a twit.
You could say something like "poorly packaged" but usually I just consider it an occupational hazard of rehabbing. I'm buying beat up, squashed, distressed bags in need of rehab, so unless it's been damaged in shipping, I take it in stride. I hear you about the risk of slicing through the leather though. After some near-misses, I'm super careful.

I am so excited to try this. I have a few vintage bags with ballpoint pen marks inside. (To be honest this makes me nuts! Ladies, cap your pens or use a zippered case!) To clarify, you achieved this with an emery board (looks like the fine side) and not a metal nail file? Please let me know if you did something else. Thank you so much!
I literally yell out loud when I see all the pen marks in these older bags. Why??? Did everyone carry their checkbooks with a free floating pen all willy nilly in their bags?!!?

I remember carrying my checkbook with me back in the late 90's, but even then I never carried a pen. The pen stayed either in my car or I borrowed one when I needed to write a check! It is truly a big pet peeve of mine.
I thrifted a Furla make up bag for $3 that now houses pens and perfume etc...so as not to have a spillage.

Now I keep a pen in the car.

For awhile, I carried a pen case but now I've downsized so I just leave pens out. I rarely need one. I can put notes on my phone and I hardly ever write checks, except at home.
Wow! I don’t mind dirt and grime, as I love rehabbing and thrifting, but that puts even me off. Just, why?!
Once my son lost his tooth in a restaurant and I put it in my purse to take it home and put under his pillow. That is the only thing I can think of.

Oh, that’s true! Maybe it’s a tooth fairy fail

Also agree with so many of you- once I started rehabbing, pens and makeup went into zippered bags! I subscribe to Ipsy and they are perfect for the job.

I wanted to share this with the group. I have found an answer to those stubborn scratches! It’s called scratch away by leather masters. I got mine for 13$ at leatherworldtech.com
Here’s a before and after

It works in seconds and you just rub it on. Amazing!
Ooh thanks for sharing! I’m going to try this. Is that before pic of the scratches after putting CPR? I have a black saddlery that was really scratched up, and it seemed to look way better after many (And I mean many) coats of CPR and one coat of Blackrocks but now that the Blackrocks faded away, those scratches are starting to show a bit again. I wanted to see if there was a better solution.
