No bother! This is what I would try but others may have different suggestions - and if washing it doesn't diminish the red marks, and if conditioning doesn't help hide the dull patches, there may be other things that you can try.

This is how I usually give a bath to a bag. I fill the sink with sudsy water, I usually use Dawn because it is a grease cutter but I have used Ivory and other brands. I immerse the bag and stir it around, I use my finger and soft brushes (like a soft tooth brush) to scrub soiled areas. I usually only let it soak for about 15 minutes. Then I drain and rinse and soak it in clear water for a few minutes to get rid of the soap, changing the water if needed. Next I prop let it drain into the sink for awhile so that it isn't soaking wet.

I spread some old towels on a table and stuff it with towels and arrange the bag nicely, straighten the straps, etc. so it doesn't dry wrinkled. Every couple of hours I turn it over and let it continue drying. The next morning I remove the bags and pull the lining as much as possible and again arrange the bag nicely and continue to let it dry, turning it periodically. It may take a few days but when it is a little damp I would massage in the Leather CPR and let it sit for awhile and buff it with the horsehair brush. If it feels dry I may do a couple of additional applications. When it is dry and conditioned if the color is uneven or it has faded or dull areas then I resort to Black Rocks. Rub it in one area of the bag at a time and use it sparingly. Rub it off quickly and then buff with the brush. Move to another section of the bag and repeat. Come back later and buff with the brush some more. If you put it on too heavily it will feel tacky and a take forever to absorb. It has a strong odor but that fades.

That's all there is to it, sometimes you have to use metal polish on the hardware but that won't be a factor for your bag, but you might want to buff the metal with a soft cloth.

You probably feel like you already spent too much on this bag after buying all those leather care products! But you only use a small amount and they last a long time.

What is the series of numbers on the creed patch inside your bag? Did your bag come with a Coach Hangtag attached? If not we can advise you about getting a replacement.

Good luck!
You're truly great! Thanks so much! And if it turns out good, it doesn't matter much. I have maybe 70-80 in it altogether now. It still has the tags on it where it's brand new so it doesn't seem like much in hindsight. Lol it's a beautiful bag. Hopefully I can get it looking great again!

Need help to decide between this 2 bags, I think they both will rehab well, price is similiar. The 1st is Bleeker small flap, the 2nd is Hampton limited edition carryall ( tote?). Do you have those bags? If yes do you like it? Pros and cons? Thanks.

I don’t have either bag, but I like them both! Sorry to be of no help! I was just thrifting yesterday and passed on a small Bleeker with a Tattersall lining that had a top zip, from the family of the top bag. I love that belt buckle, sigh. Adorable, but trying to manage what I have.
And found a boxy little NYC clutch. For my “small NYC bag” collection

Also, I really love that detail of the woven belt on the satchel style. And I wonder if it adds to the weight of the bag.

This pair reminds me of a set of beat up Basic Bags I bought early on, for about this price, simply to dunk for experience.

Does anyone know what is going on with the funkiness on the dog leash clip, I believe pic 7?
NA, but not pinging my radar. And have at it if you want some rehab experience.
I don't know. I've been watching them and debating for awhile but I really want black and the black one looks like it's pretty beat up.

Tough choice I like them both! I’m partial to satchels. Since they’re completely different styles which type of new bag would you prefer? A satchel or a shoulder bag?

I would like to buy this bag for my mom but I have no experience with the Madison line. For those of you here that own bags from this line, do you find the caviar leather to be as durable and forgiving as the glove tanned leather? Do these bags feel well made and luxurious? Can the hardware be polished and minor scratches and stains rubbed out, similarly to the glove tanned leather? I've seen beautiful rehabs of these bags but I'm a little scared of them, they look delicate to me. I gave my mom one of the NYC convertible clutches that I rehabbed and she liked it a lot more than I thought she would have (or so she said...with moms you never know when they're being honest or when they're being a mom supporting her daughter's odd hobby). I want to give her an Italian made bag. I think she would love that. What do you ladies think about these bags in terms of durability?

I think the leather is silimiar to the Carlyle (picture 1) I got. Personally I am not a big fan of it. The leather is thin. Several days ago there was a posting about what under the leather skin of the Italy made bags, a layer of foam and a layer of cardboard like material, a piece thicker cardboard for the bottom. I also have a U.S. made Sheridan bag (picture 2&3), it has the caviar type leather finish, but leather is much thicker, almost the same feel as glove tanned leather. While Carlyle feel a little like plastic to me. Just my opinion, I know lots others love those Italy made Madison collection.
ETA: Carlyle rehabed surprisingly well consider all the cardboards inside, Sheridan flap just listing pictures, haven't rehabed yet.

Thank you so much for the feedback, that really helps! I was worried about the plastic feel to it, thank you for mentioning that. My mom definitely likes soft leather so maybe I should avoid this style. I'm also trying to find her a navy blue City bag in great condition, maybe I'll just stick with that for now.

Maybe better ask other ladies opinions before giving up on that bag. I am unreasonable sometimes.lol.. I think Splatnext just got a Carlyle recently, ask her how she like it.
