Can't believe how much people will pay for something in this kind of condition. The shipping cost was for Canada. I am sure U.S. buyer would pay much less postage, still lots of money for a rehab project.
I noticed the listing when it was only $13, then it gradually climb up in price and out of my reach.

I was hoping I could get some advice.
Years ago I purchased a vintage british tan Willis bag for my sister. It’s her favorite bag, so when she mentioned needing a bag for work I decided to get a beekman.

I found this one that’s in pretty great condition. I wanted to clean it up a bit before gifting it to her as a late Christmas gift. There’s no major stains but there is some discoloring on the bottom.

I was thinking about giving it a bath (which does make me a bit nervous) and then conditioning with Lexol. Should I use Brasso for the hardware?

Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

I'd appreciate some advice on this NYC classic from the more experienced R&Rs. She's got more than a few miles on her, which I kind of like, and I'm hoping after her spa day(s) she ends up looking like something Indiana Jones would carry... If Indiana Jones carried Coach!

I'm going to take her to a cobbler to have the edging restitched, but should I do that before or after she's been bathed and conditioned?

I'm in a similar situation with a red Penny Pocket bag. If you take it before cleaning it then if it gets dirty at the cobbler then you can take care of that. On the other hand, if you clean it, the cobbler can better match the thread to the cleaned and conditioned leather. Let me know what you end up doing.

A bath is a great idea. I don't care for Lexol. I would use Leather CPR and Blackrock.

Yay! Maybe use something to keep it propped open and have a fan blowing towards it? Trying to think of ways to get it drier faster. Lol.
I often dry newly bathed bags (stuffed) on the sweater shelf in my dryer at the lowest, gentle heat cycle for about 30 minutes on one side, another thirty on the other. Then I take out the towels/wash clothes , massage with CPR and put it back onto the dryer rack at the same low temperature for another 20 minutes or so on each side until the bag is almost dry. Then another CPR massage and air dry.

This is brilliant! I don't have a fancy dryer like that. I use my hair dryer some times. I have hung a bag from a floor lamp in front a fan before. Haha.

Is there anyway to restore colour on a faded red bag? I’m eyeing this listing but I’m worried I won’t be able to fix the colour. I’m going to ask for more pictures to see how it looks in whiter light but the seller is pretty upfront about the colour so I am not holding out much hope that I won’t have to do anything if I do buy it.
I would really appreciate any advice. Thanks!!

You might have some success evening out the color with a dunk and conditioning, but you'd probably still see slight variations. It's still a beautiful bag, even with the fading.
