Hi and welcome. The history of Coach is that the owner from the 60s, Miles Cahn, thought that the leather processing used for baseball gloves would make for quality leather goods, including handbags. Hence, glove tanned leather. Yes, the leather processing of what I like to call the original weight leather, lends itself well to refurbishing. I have also refurbished a few bags from the light weight leather collection and even a few from the 00’s that look nice.I love restoring vintage things. There is something gratifying about taking a older but still quality item and restoring it to beauty, form and function. The leather on the older coaches is tough stuff and it seems to respond well to a bit of care and attention.
You will find lots of company here of those who enjoy taking a leather bag or other product that was left to languish in a thrift shop or yard sale or flea market and restoring it to or close to its original beauty

ETA, and I’m a little envious, while that is not a style I gravitate toward, I absolutely love that color! I attempted to bring a bag back in that shade, but no bueno. Well done.
