See the link below for the Men's Canvas Bleecker City Field Bag 70894 that I found at Goodwill yesterday for $10. The bag is intact but very dirty and I know that I will be doing a lot of scrubbing, and it may be making a trip through the washer; but the thick, white, webbed strap may be impossible to clean. Please let me know if you have any suggestions for cleaning this poor bag, thanks!

I just cleaned a leather crossbody with a webbed strap purchased at Goodwill and had success with pre-treating the strap with Spray 'n Wash, scrubbed it well with Dawn and a toothbrush and rinsed thoroughly. The color of the water was unbelievable! The strap is now cleaner than I ever would have imagined. If you're going to put it in the washer, you could still pre-treat and agitate the dirt with a soft brush before tossing it in the washer. Best of luck!

Thanks so much! I am going to try cleaning it first before resorting to the washer, but the bag is filthy inside and out so I may need to send through the laundry.

I got a great deal on a awesome legacy icon tote. And the glazing is coming off. How can I fix this? I have talked to my local bag repair shop and they can’t fix it.

Do you mean the coating along the edges? It looks like someone already repainted parts of it. You can buy edge paint, but the process is labor intensive and it's hard to get it looking right.

Hello my fellow rehabbers!

I know I'm getting ahead of myself here, (since my bag is still on it's way), but I thought I'd post some photos of its condition to see if I can gather some tips on how to best fix it up, so once it arrives, I can just dive right into it!

Here she is, my second Regina! Because this style just works for me. :P As you can see, she's got some obvious signs of wear.

Wear on the top...

And very worn corners that look like they might require more than just CPR.

Here's a closer look at the corner wear.

Can she be restored? I'm planning to dunk, CPR, buff, etc. But will that be enough? Do the corners need to be repainted? A little worried about this one because it has more wear than I'm used to. Any tips and pointers you all have to offer would be so helpful and very much appreciated! :flowers:

Hi rehabbers! I got a shoulder pouch/4205 identified on the authenticate thread that it’s from the lightweight line. I wanted to try to reshape it because it’s a little smooshed by dunking it and giving it a bath. Has anyone had experience doing this with the lightweight bags before? I’ve only done it with the station bags from the 90s and wanted to make sure it’s ok with these types of bags too. Thanks for your help!

It should be a very successful rehab. If you don't have Blackrock yet, I'd highly recommend it, especially for those corners. It does wonders. You can always touch up with paint mixed with conditioner later...but I doubt you'll need to.

Beautiful color! If the bag is basically clean, you can try reshaping it by applying a light coat of conditioner (I use Leather CPR), stuffing it with warm towels and hanging it in the bathroom while the shower is running.

I've dunked Lightweights with no problems. They rehab a bit differently than the thicker leather of the regular classic styles. They seem to take a long time to dry. Sometimes the creed will fade...take a picture of it before you dunk if you want to preserve a record of it. I wouldn't use an oily conditioner on it, just CPR and maybe Blackrock if you have it.

Lightweights are a tough rehab. Sometimes they turn out great sometimes they are a blotchy wrinkled mess. If it's pretty clean I'd stuff it and then condition it over a few days, leave it stuffed it will shape back up. Or dunk just enough to make it wet and go from there.
