Hello everyone, I have been following the conversations shared among the group and need some opinions on my next collection addition.
It terms of rehab and restoring which bag (asking for opinion(s)) is in better condition for a successful project?

Holy Moly, if I’m paying that much, it better be something that does not need to be rehabbed.

Most likely some or all the stains are permanent. I would probably choose the cheapest one. The other two are a darker red. The stains might hide better on the darker color.

Hilarious... You're right.
In my quest for vintage, I found a couple of like new bags for $50 and under. I found a like new red Pocket Bag, with slight fading, and my offer was accepted for $80 . It seemed like a lot of $, after paying around $20 to 30 for bags. But now I appreciate what a deal it was.
Good luck in your quest for a Red!

Some of the big coach stores offer leather tags for $8 but they are newer looking. They look like this.
I did splurge on a few new tags at my local store, that offer free embossing. My friend went to a store that did not have the embossed and he was able to order his with embossing. I got the jumbo size too. They are big! I would rather do do than pay outrageous prices from resellers. The new style works for some of my bags. I am fortunate that most of my vintage bags came with tags, so I can switch them up.

You know, just for the heck of it, I wrote to Coach to ask for a new turnlock for my Willis, as the one I have now has a few scratches on it. All they did was send me instructions on how to send my bag to their own repair facility.

I guess if I really wanted one, I could order it from eBay.
I did get a replacement turnlock from Coach about two years ago. FWIW, the metal seems really lightweight and cheap.

Wow. Some years back Coach sent me a free new turnlock for my vintage City bag. Along with directions on how to swap out the old turnlock. Didn't even charge me shipping. They were doing that back then. I guess they figure that will all the ebay sales sending out new turnlocks is a loss. Very sad.

Hi,
Seeking advice on using Leather CPR. What do you use to apply it? The bottle I got today says to use a soft sponge (and not a cloth). A dry soft sponge?

I have experience with Leather Therapy, Obenauf’s, Blackrock and a couple of other products, but I’m a CPR newbie. Grateful for your advice on vintage Coach rehabs. Thanks in advance, for how you apply it, and what it does for the leather.
You know, I never looked at the directions on CPR. After going through a 32 oz container of Leather Therapy, applied with a cloth, I wanted to try CPR. I’ve been applying it with a cloth

Being very new to this I also read the instructions very carefully, started out with a sponge. It drove me nuts, pitched the sponge and switched to a micro fiber cloth.I'm much happier with a cloth.

I just use my fingers? is that weird? is that bad?! Oh no!

I use a microfiber cloth. I squeeze a big blob onto a small cloth and spread it around so the cloth is pretty well saturated.

I also use my fingers or sometimes, both hands.

Weekend project is a mushed orange mini daypack!
Twins!

I found this style at Goodwill recently in their locked case. It was red and I went gaga... then I looked at the edges and there were holes all along the back bottom edge.. which maybe I would've attempted to repair if they hadn't made it $50!!!!! I complained and asked if they realised it was in such poor condition and they offered to reduce the price by $10.. I had to leave it behind, very disappointed. It had stains too.. and I think it sold. I didn't see it still there yesterday. I have bought all my daypacks there for $15 or under in better condition usually. They are a great style!

That said I have rehabbed a couple of nice reds recently. Maybe I'll get time to take a pic to share today.
