Don't know where to post this query but has anyone ever had a Pierpoint bag? I saw a picture of one the other day and find them very attractive. I've never seen one for sale anywhere. Just how rare are they? Tcoach pierpoint bag.jpg hanks.

Been absent for a while, I have a question for you experts though. Are there any Ramblers made in Italy? I would post it in the authentication thread but still waiting on a clearer picture of the creed, the plant code was E.

I had one at one time. It's a lovely bag with an elegant feel. Like all the Madisons, it is lined and retains its shape. They do require care and gentle handling, as they scratch easily and show wear. They can be hard to find because without the style number on the creed, sellers usually don't know the name or style number.

Thank you! I have a lot of Madisons and search them out because I love them so much but had never seen this style before. The longer length gives it a more casual look to it while still exhibiting the sophisticated feel to the purse. Plus any purse that has extra room is always a plus for me. I will now be on the lookout for one.

I'm sorry to be "that guy" and ask this question, but is there a sticky post somewhere of recommended products for rehabbing vintage Coach leather pieces, or a specific website(s) that you recommend? I do plan to read through as much of this thread as I can, but with 1400+ pages it'll take me awhile.

I know I'll need some basic leather conditioner, and maybe some Brasso, but am not sure where else to start or what else may be needed. I have a vintage Compact Pouch, a few vintage Willises, a '90s Pocket Purse, and a couple Ergos I'll be working on. Maybe there's a different thread I should consult? Thanks in advance and sorry for the newb question!

Thanks, ErgoHobo-buddy! ;) I'm on page 7 right now. Eeshk. But so far, lots of great product ideas:
  • Leather Therapy
  • Blackrocks
  • Obenauf’s
  • EdgeKote
  • Mean Green (for fabric)
  • Lexol
  • Applegard/AppleGuard (for vachetta leather only maybe?)
  • Shoe Goo (for edges)
I'll keep scouring and learning!

In preparation for dunking my stewardess bag tomorrow I worked on the brass and green spots on the strap. Oddly the brass has little green on it for all that it left green stripes on the strap. Anyway, working so close with the bag I am sure it is not the same color as my courier. So if the courier is tabac, the stewardess is not and vice versa. Really curious how it will look clean, dry snd conditioned.

Just a quick answer about products: the best investments you can make are a bottle of Leather CPR, a jar of Blackrock Leather n' Rich, and a package of Cape Cod Metal Polishing cloths. I also recommend getting yourself a big horsehair shoe brush.

It took me forever to read through and I'm sure there's still pages I missed! Definitely get some Leather Cpr and Blackrocks!

I saw you mentioned a big horsehair brush, so reminds me!
If possible, I'd like to please ask a question here about that.

Can the same horsehair brush be used for all bags, regardless of the color of the bag?
I got a horsehair brush a little while ago, and since then have only used it on navy bags.

I'm about to do a red bag, and am wondering if I need a second brush.
A couple of hours ago, I bought a second horsehair brush (and figured I'll return it if I don't need it).

A cobbler told me recently that I'd need a separate horsehair brush for dramatically different colors of leather, because the brushes will have dye on them. Wondering if that's true, or if he just wanted to sell me ALL THE BRUSHES. ;)

Also, should the horsehair brush / brushes be cleaned in some way?

I've used the same horsehair brush on all the bags I've rehabbed, and I've never seen any color transfer. I haven't washed the brush either, but maybe I should.

I use the same brush, but usually buff with a cloth first.
Maybe your cobbler is used to thinking about shoe polish too, which is pigmented and could cause transfer.
And yes , I did wash my brush once. I wash my make make up brushes and hair brushes regularly and thought it couldn’t hurt.

And keep in mind:
Lexol Cleaner , Dawn dish detergent , Castille soap to clean (I have used all 3)
White vinegar
Toothbrush
I can’t tell you how many times I was ready to dunk only to find I was out of white vinegar
