Omg! Do you know how many time I touch the suede with conditioner! I'm notorious for it lol, nothing is worse than have your bag come out flawless aaaand then you make the suede all greasy. I got a suede eraser just for that reason...*deep breath* rant over lol:panic:
Lol I never get tired of telling this. The first time I used Obenauf's Oil, I was seriously underprepared for what a runny mess it would be. I put some on bottom of a Convertible Clutch which has corner seems, and I believe the bottom center seam too. I put so much on it saturated the seams an seeped inside. You only have to do that once. Yup. When I use Obenauf's Oil now, you'd think I'm handling a hazmat!!

I am still working on this dinkyish thing with the kisslock inside and I'm not at all happy with it. The scratches on this did not diminish with washing. And now I have used every conditioner over the last couple of weeks on it and they didn't smooth them out either. It's hard to describe, but the leather is somehow weird... I tested for shoe polish but nada. It does seem kinda possibly painted or somehow treated but it's not coming off with acetone. The outside flap is a slightly different color to the inside of the bag. I'm thinking I might sand the whole thing over with extra fine sandpaper so the pores will be reopened.. kinda scratching it all over so it's even then conditioning it again. Or is that too crazy? Pictures aren't working for me right now.

I just gave my worn wallet a makeover. Before: all the shiny gold finish was worn and mostly gone in various places.
After: I used Sharpie gold metallic permanent marker. I like the matte metallic finish much better than the shiny one. View attachment 4044672View attachment 4044673

This is the thread I was looking for earlier when I mentioned using metallic acrylic paint to rehab worn metallic surfaces. It is a sateen legacy stripe wallet with lots of gold leather that was very worn. The rehab has held up very well over time. I don't use this wallet a lot, but I do use it.

This is an off topic post - I wanted to say Happy International Women's Day to all ladies around here (and all men who make their life brighter and happier). It's a great holiday that is slowly but surely gaining popularity on this continent. To my American friends who don't know much about it I usually explain it as a "cross between Mother's Day and Valentine's Day": it's the holiday centered around ALL women - moms, grandmothers, young women and little girls. In Europe where it's celebrated men often give flowers to the women on the streets they often don't even know and treat them all like queens.
Below are words from a poem by the famous Russian poet Marina Tsvetaeva. I found it today among other women's wise words Google put together for the occasion. It says:
"Wings are freedom only when they are wide open in flight. On one's back they are a heavy weight."
May your wings never weigh you down and only help you reach your dreams!

Thanks and wow! You caught me off guard, this is the last place where I expected to see a poster in my native language.

It's crazy to sand a bag!

I wouldn't sand it.

I sanded the cat-scratched bag that I rehabbed with fine-grit sandpaper and steel wool in the spots where the cat's claws had penetrated the leather. There was a spot where I wasn't careful enough and sanded the surrounding leather a bit. It made the leather darker in that spot when I conditioned it.

I think there would be a good chance that you can't sand it evenly and will end up with dark spots when you condition it, and you run the risk of ruining the surface of the leather.

Exactly. Once the surface is damaged, the conditioner soaks in differently. It's like putting conditioner on suede.

Hmm yes.. I'm at a loss as to what else to do. It just doesn't seem right somehow.

I just bought a great little Regina bag but it does not have the rolled leather strap. I've searched everywhere, does anyone have any idea where to buy a replacement? I'm including a reference photo that shows the strap. Thanks! Nik

It's not an ideal solution, but it's an option for a small bag that is missing a strap. You can use a chain strap that matches the hardware.

Right now on the Coach Outlet Online Sale they are selling gold and silver curb-chain straps for $15 each. They are genuine Coach straps and they are well-made and work nicely with smaller bags. You can still keep looking for a leather strap for your Regina but in the meantime you will have another option. That's what I did with my small Gracie bag, see the pic below.

Did your Regina come with the hangtag? If not, you can call Coach Customer Service and they will send a free replacement hangtag. It will probably be a metal hangtag that matches the hardware.

I have purchased what I will call a briefcase H7C-5266. How does one go about rehabbing it ? Can I dunk it? What is in the bottom of it — leather or cardboard. I dont want to ruin the bottom. Thanks for any help.

I don't look like Russian, do I, bahaha! I knew where you're from (duh!), but wasn't sure whether you're interested in people from post-Soviet territories. At some point we all stop trying to hug everyone who speaks the same language ;)
