As far as I know, it was not part of the Lightweights collection, although it may have been produced around the same time Lightweights were being introduced.

I've noticed different weights and thicknesses of leathers in the NYC bags I've rehabbed.

It does look very dry in the listing photos. I would dunk and condition it, which should help a lot.

Oh well, no good news. The strap and the hangtag(!) cracked after dunking. Funny enough, I just asked whether anyone had a NYC bag cracking. Count me in, although I can’t say I had no warning - the bag felt weird from the start.

The bag survived the dunking, but it doesn’t look good at all. If it weren’t confirmed authentic, I’d have serious doubts. It just doesn’t feel like a quality leather, and all the scratches are still there. The beauty of Coach bags is that they look good even distressed. Not this one. I’ll take a picture tomorrow in a daylight.

My cat decided to be an ahole and scratched up the flap of my vintage Willis. Will conditioning take them out?

Conditioning won't remove scratches but it should make them harder to see.

Wow, I'm so sorry this happened. The listing pics do show the strap edges looking rough, piping very worn, and scratches and several patches of color loss on the bag. But now I'm wondering if it was shoe-polished, recolored or painted at some point.

I’m looking to condition an old bag (that I had previously washed and conditioned with Apple) but I can’t seem to find it in stores (I’m in Canada). Amazon seems to only sell it in the 33oz option but I was looking to try out a smaller bottle first.

I purchased mine from Bed Bath & Beyond. It was about a 12 oz size.

Found this on posh for $40. Not sure where to start with it. There is a little tear and the lining looks loose. Maybe I should find a leather repair shop? Do you think that would be best? It should be here tomorrow. View attachment 4340432View attachment 4340434

I have used a product called Rub N Buff to repair worn plating on Coach jewelry and fobs but I have never tried it on the hardware on a bag. I don't know how well it will wear, but it is cheap and easy to use, see the link below:

No, I don’t think it was any of that. The bag doesn’t look abused - no stains, etc, and, surprisingly, no patina. I think some sort of alcohol based cleaning product might have been used regularly on it. The scratches are thin, but deep - might be a kitty’s job. But the most puzzling thing is the untimely demise of the hangtag, I think it just points to an unfortunate batch of leather. When I dunked the hangtag, it looked like it was about to dissolve. There are a couple of inner pockets where the leather shouldn’t be affected by dyeing or shoe polish; it’s the same color and pretty stiff too. Another possibility is that this bag once got very, very wet (fell into water?) and was dried next to a radiator or in the sun without any moisturizer.
