View attachment 4321943 Okay. I have really stalled out on dunking, rehabbing, conditioning, organizing.
Decided to finally dunk these two today. I really want to get the navy, on the right, into rotation!

View attachment 4322952 Since my Legacy Ramblers are looking nice from yesterday, I will get these two cuties in process.
So ya, daa, here they are!

My tablet jumbles up the order, but you can figure it out. The black Legacy Rambler has a lot of distressing and wear. I will give it an app of Obenauf’s Oil , but most likely will not be keeping it. The others are keepers :heart::heart:

Nice work! That navy Rambler's Legacy sure is a beauty!

Thank you!! I really cannot believe how great she turned out. Lots of elbow grease and three coats of a Blackrock like product and one coat of Leather honey later but I learned a lot. This thread and the kindness people show by passing along information is a treasure trove.
Nothing like a rehab gone right! I really like the contrast stitching.

What is the Blackrock like product you used?

Hey guys, so I got the Leather CPR but the texture is a little like Lexol so maybe blackrock will work better but overall I am really happy with my bag and almost tempted to buy another vintage coach on ebay.

I accidentally found my leather bag bought in cuba 5 years ago but due to the condition of the leather I never used it and I feel a little guilty about that. So I dunked it and hoping it will become more supple just like my coach. I know this just got a little sidetracked hope it is not against any rules.

Also I am wondering if anyone has any BAllY bags that they have rehabbed? I saw this one and it reminds me of the coach made in italy line. The flag looks like suede so not sure how I should go about to clean this one. Sorry if it is not the right forum but the handbag maintenance one is not very active and it doesn't seem like there is a lot of discussion of bally bags. Love to have another vintage coach but also would like to have something looks a little different.

That's how I do it too, if I'm not going to dunk the bag.

I've also used vinegar after conditioning with CPR, on some spots. Sometimes it helps, sometimes I don't see much difference. I'd follow up with CPR and Blackrock in any case.

That Poppy vachetta hobo I posted upthread was a bit intimidating for me. I totally loved it, but knew I'd never carry it for fear of getting it dirty, so I gave it to my sister. She gets lots of compliments on it. Over the holidays when she visited, she brought it with her so I could show her how to clean it. We wiped it down with a cloth dampened with vinegar, let it dry, then finished with CPR.

Vachetta is kind of a special case so it's hard to recommend specific treatments without having the bag in my hands. A lot of rehabs are a process of trial, error and intuitive responses to what the bag seems to need.
Thank you, Catbird! I'm glad to know vinegar can work even after conditioning. That's great your sister is enjoying the hobo. Now you know how to clean it, do you think you would use a vachetta bag?
