I emailed Coach for a hang tag and they responded super quickly and were very kind. Unfortunately when I sent them my address they said they only send hangtags to the continental US. That didn’t used to be the case.

Bummer.

Where are you located? I'm in Canada and am waiting on a turnlock I requested about 2 weeks ago. I did get an email saying it was on the way. I requested another lock last year and recall that it took longer than expected to arrive. Perhaps you could call them? It seems that lots of people get conflicting information about repairs.

Hi all, I was wondering is there was a specific time period where coach used all brass for their bags? I have had a few issues with the metal and I’m wonder if its because the brace is plated or is there a coating over the brass? Some of my metal looks rough especially on the shoulder straps, the part that you squeeze open to hook to the strap yo the bag. Also I rehabbed the New York classic pouch and the inside zipper pull is white. Anyone have that happen? Is there a way to fix that? Thanks so much for any help or suggestions you can give me [emoji4]

They used solid brass on some NYC bags made in the 70s and early 80s. Some of the heavier buckles are stamped solid brass. The thinner ones aren't. I don't think I've seen a lobster clasp that was stamped solid brass. Those were purchased from a supplier and it depends on if the supplier offered it in solid brass. Many of the zippers are solid brass. The zipper pulls almost never are. There were a few lines in the 90s that used solid brass hardware but most bags of that era don't have solid brass.

Thanks whateve! I guess I have to figure out a fix for the zipper pull without damaging the bag or the zipper. If not, I’ll just have to leave it because I don’t want alter the bag. Thanks again [emoji4]

The white zipper pull is caused by oxidation. I've tried to clean them with a polishing cloth without much success. Maybe dip a toothbrush in vinegar and scrub gently?

Hi all, I'm wondering if anyone has experience rehabbing a vachetta bag?

I have Poppy Willis in natural, with the striped legacy lining. She came super dirty, and I really want to clean the inside.

Outside, the leather has some staining, most notably pen marks on the front, which I made SO much worse trying to remove them.

Has anyone dunked this bag? Dunked vachetta in general? Is the legacy lining colorfast if I just use a wet cloth on the inside? Is there a benefit to dunking this kind of bag? I am a bit out of my depth here, as I have never had this kind of leather.

So far I have used leather CPR all over to clean. I am totally okay with a deeper patina should that occur. I have been researching docride's patina method with LV and Hermes threads, but of course they don't dunk over there.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

The lining is colorfast. You should be fine cleaning that. I don't know if it is actually vachetta. If it is, the best way to clean it is with vinegar. If it is vachetta, water will darken it unevenly.

I had a Poppy Vachetta Whipstitch hobo from 2011. I used vinegar first, then Leather CPR, rubbing gently in a circular motion on corners and soiled areas. It was pretty clean to start with, but the treatment helped.

I don't think I'd dunk the Poppy New Willis. You might try hanging it in a warm moist place (bathroom while showering; laundry room?) to see if the creases and wrinkles will smooth out.

Thanks, whateve. It would actually free me up so much if the bag wasn't vachetta. I don't know how to tell personally, but when I look up the style number - 19132 - I can see that this style was made in a vachetta, but could it also have been made in a different leather with the same style number?

I know I can at least wipe out the inside...should I just use vinegar on the inside in case it bleeds through on the maybe vachetta?

Won't my bag smell like a salad afterwards? Lol.
