Great haul! I rehabbed a manor bag once. It cleaned up nicely. Love the red city!Got a sweet little pile of rehab from my Goodwill today. I particularly can't wait to wash the red City bag as it's so dirty and dry but little else wrong with it. Should be an easy cleanup job. Also the manor bag I'm pretty excited as I've never even seen one before. I hope the edges get some color back in them.View attachment 4279784
Got these little things too. I'm a bit scared of washing the thing with the embroidery. I'm worried it might fall apart or colors might runView attachment 4279787
Nice to see pictures are working today. I might see if I can share some successful rehabs if I get time.
I would like to see what others say about the straps. In pics 3, 4, 5 it looks like it could be areas where the leather gets worn down from contact. That commonly occurs with heavy and/or long terms use.Hi, all!
I'm concerned about the condition of one of my bags - could this be dry rot? The strap in particular is worrying. I've given it several coats with Blackrocks already.
Apologies for the photos - it was hard to get good shots of the strap. Thanks in advance for any thoughts you have!

I don't see any rot. I see normal areas of wear.I would like to see what others say. In pics 3, 4, 5 it looks like it could be areas where the leather gets worn down from contact. That commonly occurs with heavy and/or long terms use.

I haven’t worked with edge coat, yet. I’m am sure others will chime on the straps.Oh, thank you both! That is great if it doesn't look dry rot to you.
Is there anything else I can do to help the strap? I've put a couple of coats of Blackrocks on it over the past few weeks but am open to other suggestions.
Was also thinking of putting Edge Kote on the areas at the top where the leather has worn down.
Again, many thanks!
That came out great, red can be tricky! All done with the red one. I am very happy with how my first rehab turned out. Brass is as shiny as can be but getting that turnlock back on was a bear. It is so soft now. I think I will try to find bags to rehab that aren't as scratched as this one was on the front because I can still faintly see them after the Blackrocks.
Thank you to everyone for your help!

I might be crazy I've got a plan to restore this purple Willis. It's actually in great shape other than 2 destroyed corners. I just had to save it.

Not crazy, lol, but ambitious! It is our God given right to attempt anything, even nubuc! I am interested to see how it comes out, especially since the dowels appear intact. I considered a Barclay that had a chewed dowel, but clearly a portion of the dowel was gone and the bag was not cheap, to boot. Here it is now I cut off the edging. Damage is deep but I will patch over it...
Yes, I have. The handles are the same as on several styles. They could get mushy but only if they aren't sewn tightly. If they are in good shape, they should survive a bath just fine. I think once I had some handles that had some open stitching and they got a little mushy. I injected some super glue inside to firm them back up. I don't know why you would worry about the bottom? Are you talking about the inside bottom?Has anyone ever dunked a Broadway Satchel? I'm wondering about the handles (do they have something inside them that might get mushy?) and the bottom (possible wrinkling?)

I washed one and it was fine. Thanks for your thoughts!
Yes, that smooth piece that is glued inside on the bottom -- I guess I'm wondering if that could become detached or wrinkled. The handles look fine, so I am going to go ahead and dunk, but won't leave too long in the water. Fortunately she's pretty clean, just needs a little reshaping and conditioning.

You can wash it and lightly scrub the white spots. If it is paint, it might come off with warm water. If you've never done it before, search this thread for "dunk" and "dunking." Make sure you have the right conditioners on hand before you start.Hey Coach-loving friends! I wanted to ask about this Legacy bag I have. I literally saw it across the building at a Goodwill and I told myself "That's a Coach". And I was right, meanwhile, all the fake bags were locked up in the cases! I paid up for it at $15 but I had been wanting a red bag and nothing beats leather! That being said, it shows some wear and has a couple of white stains of unknown origin (maybe white out or a paint). Hoping someone can tell me the best way to clean it and spruce it up! TIA!!View attachment 4283234 View attachment 4283236 View attachment 4283239
