Looks like a puppy got hold of it! I'm interested to see how it turns out.
Bad doggy! It's interesting the damage is only to the edging. I'm going to removed the damaged sections and give her a bath. Paint up some edging from a donor failed rehab and glue it on. If I fail I just got a lot of nice nickel Willis hardware (d rings and turnlock set) for $12.99 so no huge loss...

Hahaha! Money laundering? Conspiracy? Sounds like politics. But, seller already dropped the price a couple hundred. Personally, I think it's just stupidity & GREED. Was tempted to contact him, YO Dude, if it's a Patricia NWTs maybe ask maximum 350 obo. Anyway, hope all y'all are well!
MERRY MERRY!

All done with the red one. I am very happy with how my first rehab turned out. Brass is as shiny as can be but getting that turnlock back on was a bear. It is so soft now. I think I will try to find bags to rehab that aren't as scratched as this one was on the front because I can still faintly see them after the Blackrocks.

Thank you to everyone for your help!

LOL no not politics. I am retired law enforcement and you wouldn't believe what people do to launder money.

You should contact him. He's off his rocker.

I will contact, one night when I've had too much vino :drinks:
Politics on the brain lately, I wonder why? When I read read the Michael Cohen charges,it states he sold a "Rare, French Handbag" for 30K & didn't report it. Obviously it was a Birkin Bag,It must have needed to be REHABBED , cuz he sold it way too cheap!
Yes, I totally believe you about the money laundering..I just think this seller is misinformed &Thinks that bag is a " rare treasure".Some of these sellers are clueless. There's a beat up Legacy(can't remember the style) that has been for sale for 350 smackers for like 4 years.Worth more like 30 bucks.

Hello everyone!

My darling husband bought me an old double kiss lock swing bag (which I have been lusting after forever) and I just love him for it.

For being as old as she is, I’m not disappointed in the condition she’s in, especially for what he paid. I love most things vintage and there is something to be said about an item that has been well loved through its history. So the lacklustre and scratched hardware isn’t a big deal, neither is the wear at the corners. But she’s white and looking yellowed- kind of that smoker stained look almost (thankfully without the smell). The lining looks darkened and dull as well.
I gave a light blotting with some warm soapy water and a microfibre towel which both alleviated some of the exterior discolouring and brought forth some scuffs that didn’t show before - which made me wonder if it had been touched up with colour. Is that a thing with white?

Anywho, I have not tried to rehab a bag before and I have done lots of reading (there is SO much to learn here) but I am hesitant to dunk it due to its age and the funky striped lining. Or are those not things I should worry about? What course of action should I take here, if any? I would like to use this bag sometimes so I’d like it to look it’s age but not dingy. Do I have any hope?

That is just the nature of white. If it was touched up, it would probably have been done with shoe polish since that is something people did. You might be able to tell by the texture of the leather and if you see anything that looks like brushstrokes. I had a white one of these and it was similar. I don't think it had any shoe polish on it. Any cleaning will likely remove more of the white coloring. It will look more dingy as the real leather color shows through. Personally I wouldn't dunk a bag this old, but I'm a bit of a chicken. You can use a mild spray cleaner, anything that is safe for fabric, something that doesn't need rinsing, on the lining to brighten it up. Conditioning the leather might help.

Thank you, I figured as much. I’m too chicken as well, I don’t want to be responsible for totally destroying a bag that has lived this long. I will use and love her as is :)

What a nice gift!

I think it's very possible that the white color was touched up.

People have dunked the older bags with the striped lining, but if it were mine, I would practice on a less valuable bag (or maybe more than one) first.

Got a sweet little pile of rehab from my Goodwill today. I particularly can't wait to wash the red City bag as it's so dirty and dry but little else wrong with it. Should be an easy cleanup job. Also the manor bag I'm pretty excited as I've never even seen one before. I hope the edges get some color back in them.15448195421276250384296157444426.jpg
Got these little things too. I'm a bit scared of washing the thing with the embroidery. I'm worried it might fall apart or colors might run15448196968106323667996138140132.jpg
Nice to see pictures are working today. I might see if I can share some successful rehabs if I get time.
