I've been waiting on my TJ Maxx to get more in. Black Rocks is awesome!

I purchased that Kent I posted about. (It's been on my radar for years.) I'm going to need an acrylic paint match or dye for the corners, anybody have a good exact color match brand for the vintage British Tan?
If I keep it, I'll probably be selling my BT Murphy as they are both about the same size/ color. Do any of you guys play tradesies with yourself thinking, " I'll keep this one ( style x) until I find style y in color z but if I can get color a then I can justify keeping both"
Totally!

My bag the black Coach Court bag arrived this evening. It is a little dark to take photos suffice to say it is in great shape. It was beautifully wrapped in tissue paper with a ribbon around it and a lovely thank you note from the seller. The inside was also stuffed with nice clean tissue paper to keep its shape. The inside and outside is very clean the piping has some scuff marks on it but nothing bad. There is a little verdigris around some of the brass but not much. I am thrilled with how much I paid for it and that it is in close to perfect condition. Yay for my first rehab purchase super excited to start the process.

I'm glad your experience has been so positive! I also received a bag today from a seller who wrapped it in tissue paper with a ribbon and thank you card. Nice touch!

Mine almost always come crammed in a too small envelope with no card.
Me too....or the shipping bags. I hate the plastic shipping bags....

If I sell things, I describe exactly how I will ship it....what size box ect. I never do ribbons, and rarely a thank you LOL, but I pack with stuffing and make sure the purchase is protected...no plastic shipping bags!!!!!!

I used to do thank you cards. Now I just write a thank you note on the packing slip. I never do ribbons but I do wrap in tissue. I'm a little OCD about packing. Even if it costs more, I have to put a purse in a box. I can't stand to think of what could happen to that poor defenseless purse in a bag or envelope. I do ship wallets in padded envelopes but I usually wrap in tissue and cardboard before putting in the envelope.

My bag got a bath today. Here is my question. I put the tsp of dish soap in warm water in the sink. I don't have Dawn I use 7th Generation which is a mild dish soap that I have used for years. The bag was very very clean to start with. I soaked it for 20 minutes turned it over and soaked the other side for 20 minutes. I made sure it was submerged when I was doing the bag bath. The water was a little brown but not much. Here is my question. The water seemed to bead up and run off on the outside of the bag. The inside unfinished leather it soaked it up. Should it be beading up and running off the bag when I removed it from the water? The is my first experience of dunking so I was not sure what to expect.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It beads up because of the oils in the leather. That's good. It means your bag isn't overly dry. It won't need too much conditioner.

Thank you so much for the response. The bag looks to me to be in amazing condition. It was not particularly dirty and as though the seller had cleaned it up. The bath did plump up the leather and I have some CPR all ready once it is dryer. What a great first experience of buying a Coach for rehab. Now I am looking for a red Coach vintage leather bag for my next rehab project.

I have dunked twice now.....my Rambler last night. After about 30 minutes submerged is when the color seems to come out. I inadvertently kept my Rambler in for 45 minutes and when i dumped the water, it was almost red, like oxblood. After putting my clean dry towels in, they came out with a little brown on them, but I was surprised how little. I put some leather CPR on it and went to bed. I hope it's ready for some black rock when I get home from work in an hour!

That's really quick for the bag to be dry enough for conditioning. Did you condition when it was still soaking wet? I would recommend at least 2 or 3 applications of CPR a day apart, and then assessing the leather before deciding it was ready for Blackrocks. Don't use Blackrocks until the bag is completely dry.

- I scored this beautiful tote. Unfortunately, it is pretty dirty and smells like smoke, despite what the seller said. I see you successfully dunked a bag with the mexican stripe lining. I am scared the blue from the leather will run and marr the lining (which is in great shape). Do I have a reason to be scared?View attachment 4232923
@kstar54 The Cashin bag with Mexican striped lining that I dunked was tan leather so I haven't given a bath to a dark, lined Cashin bag - but there was absolutely no running of the colors, they just got clean and bright.

If the bag is smelly and dirty and you are not comfortable carrying it, then you might want to take a chance on a bath.

Thank you @whateve . I took the towels out when it was half dry and then slathered on some leather CPR. When i got home last night, the bag was dry so i put a little black rock on it. I have a hard time with the black rock - no matter how small amount of the product i put on my finger, my first touch to the leather results in an a darker/shiner spot then the parts i smooth around with my finger. Not sure that makes sense. Either way, i will take your advice and put more CPR on it before i do any more BR.

Thanks!

I usually rub the Blackrock between my fingertips to soften and warm it a bit first. Sometimes it does make a spot on the leather but it gets absorbed eventually.

Buffing with a horsehair shoe brush or soft microfiber cloth between coats helps a lot.
