I follow this guy on IG and he mostly repairs shoes but sometimes vintage Coach. He replaced all the pipings of a briefcase and it looks really good.
Wow, quite an undertaking. My hat is off to him if he fixed that bag!

I've used Leather honey. If your bag is black, it will probably be fine. I used Leather honey on really dry leather when the CPR doesn't seem to be working well enough. It changes the color, often making it very uneven so I would hesitate to use it on anything but black unless it is necessary.I have Leather honey that I use for conditioning. From what I am reading CPR is the conditioner I see recommended a lot of the time. Should I be getting some CPR instead of using the Leather Honey?
Probably $100-200. If you wait long enough and watch the market you can find a good one for $100. I found the same one on Mercari last year but never bought. It was $75 I think. What a lot of work! I wonder how much he charged.
You need to use rivets, something like this https://hearthookhome.com/how-to-set-double-cap-rivets-in-leather/. Any cobbler can do that or you can try DIY.I did a search but didn't find exactly what I was looking for. Has anyone ever attached satchel straps where there aren't any on the bag yet? I saw that you can buy satchel straps from some retailers, but I am wondering how you attach them to a leather bag. Maybe a leather store needs to do this or perhaps there is a do it yourself method? I have a bag that only has the side clips/crossbody strap, but I think I would like the bag more if it was a satchel..... so trying to see if this is possible.
So you can use the rivets to attach the straps to the handbag? I think we might have a rivet tool. Thanks! You need to use rivets, something like this https://hearthookhome.com/how-to-set-double-cap-rivets-in-leather/. Any cobbler can do that or you can try DIY.
I went to TJMaxx yesterday having read that some of the ladies had purchased CPR leather conditioner and got the last 18oz bottle for $3.99. I also ordered some Black Rock waiting for that to arrive. As soon as the bag arrives I will have everything ready for the rehab.I've used Leather honey. If your bag is black, it will probably be fine. Does this ever happen? The pink leather was bleeding everywhere. I’m wondering now if it’s a fake?Pinks and reds will occasionally bleed when they are wet.
That doesn't make it fake. You can post pictures in the Authenticate thread and we can tell you if it is authentic. I'm not seeing anything wrong in this picture. Finally got the courage to dunk a thrifted bag and holy crap! Does this ever happen? The pink leather was bleeding everywhere. I’m wondering now if it’s a fake?
