So I stalled out on a rehab I started last summer. And the time is right to pick it up again. I had a camel Bleeker I was calling "squashed" bag from the way it was shipped.
I was preoccupied with getting the leather to a softer condition and did not give enough diligence to the bottom of the bag to make sure the piping trim did not fold under while it was drying. If you have a bag in the Bleeker 930X family, you know what I mean.
So after even more lack of diligence after ignoring it in my rehab pile, it needed to be propped up for a photo!
20180210_101021.jpg 20180210_101129.jpg So I was feeling motivated to dunk it and get the bottom reshaped so I could use it. Otherwise, it was going out. So at one point a while back , I was wondering if I should make a form from a gallon water bottle to help reshape the trim on the bottom. I dunked it and put it upside down on a bottle of laundry detergent to drain. The plastic from the water bottle was not rigid enough. I thought about what I could use to prop the edges. I thought about what people propped open bags with to get better pics of the inside. I opened my kitchen drawer and there it was, a straw! Just what I needed!

Yes, you'll need to condition when it is nearly dry. I like to use Saphir Creme Delicate on this type of leather.

Thanks! I actually used this process. The woman who posed this thread made my whole week.

I use that process on my Vechetta Caroline too. I love Vechetta, but you have to be ready for a little character with the Gigi since it ages unevenly, but after 12 years, it's still stunning. I add Apple spray too.

I think I'm going to give my Vechetta Caroline a swim in the washer too. It could sure you a good cleaning. It's actually my favorite bag of all time.

Did you ever see this thread. This is my before and after photos

I am rehabbing 2 this weekend. So far they've had their bath and are looking lovely. But I wonder what there is to do about this old girl's monogram? Is that a service Coach used to offer? It's in a discreet place, under the flap. I thought it seemed like it was going away when she was waterlogged but it's definitely still there. I imagine it's permanent. Oh well, just a part of the bags history. Also the flap on this bag is quite faded. I hope the color will come back with some obenauf's because other than that it's really in fabulous condition. Also, what do you guys do about black marks on the strap from the buckle? I couldn't get them off with a little scrub with dawn:

This is the other, a saddlery bag, easy rehab before:

Here's my rehabs completed! I used the black saddlery bag today. Perfect!

I hope I remember that if I get a vachetta bag. I've used vinegar and a magic eraser to clean vachetta but I've never pre-treated it.

I just posted about this in a different thread because I didn’t realize this one was current and active. I’m a newbie here but not to coach bags. I stumbled upon this forum researching what to do with my current rehab.
I had a whiskey Mandy 65th anniversary back when it was brand new. That bag was love at first sight and I planned to keep it forever..I just didn’t take care of it. Couple years ago I found it in the bottom of a tote in my storage unit, smashed, molding, just ruined ‍♀️.
I’ve kept my eye open for a replacement since then and finally bought one in great shape for $65 but it is pond blue. I was fine with that but upon further inspection it had some significant yellowing one on one end. I’m in the process of gently removing the finish to restore color... my question is should I try to match the pond color or take it grass/kelly green? I’ve wanted a bright green bag for a long time and know the brass hardware would be gorgeous but part of me is a purist. I’d appreciate any input
