You guys... This is the 4th sink of water I’ve put this duffle in and good lord, look how black this water is! Shoe polish, I assume???

This is my first experience with this out of all my rehabs I’ve done. Weird!

May just be really dirty.... I have had that happen with some black bags really dirty and some color loss. I don't think shoe polish would wash out with just soap and water. Keep us posted. I love duffle sacs.

Speaking of sacs, I found this hunter green Soho for $5. It is the ugliest mess I have faced yet, but I figured if I can't get it to look better I can always use it for groceries. Any thoughts about rehab? I'm thinking acrylic paint.IMG_2155.JPG IMG_2156.JPG IMG_2157.JPG IMG_2158.JPG

You Might be surprised.... a good dunk and scrub and conditioning might do the trick. I have had some really rough ones that I thought I would have to resort to pigment or paint and conditioner but I was pleasantly surprised. Good luck!

I agree with pp, wash it first and see what comes out. It might not even be permanent staining. Great price for that if it comes up clean especially!
I have 2 of those and both are pretty messed up with stains but I still love them.

So do you folks have a particular bag that is a favorite style to rehab?

I've done 3 british tan city bags and I absolutely LOVE them. This is the latest one that I worked on before:

and after:

They just clean up so nice! (edited b/c I'm still clueless about uploading pics on this site)

Great job!

My favorite style to rehab is a NYC Dinky bag. The early Court bags are satisfying too. (This one was made in Italy.)

Maybe a watermelon satchel? Legacy zips are nice too. I think my favorite may have been a Legacy drawstring, but that was because the leather was so nice, even before rehabbing. It is easier to think of bags I don't like to rehab. I hate the weird sides on convertible clutches. Bags with handles are sometimes harder. I don't like rehabbing bags with lining or that have stiffening added to parts.

Hey TPF’ers.

I’m sorry to ask this but I searched for awhile and can’t find a good answer.

I’ve got this cute shimmer leather Coach Hobo poppy bag. It’s got an unfortunate stain right on the front and I am terrified about cleaning it. It’s not fabric or regular leather.

What should I do?

This leather is so delicate, I swear it stains just by looking at it! I don't have high hopes you'll be able to fix it. I have a Poppy drawstring in the same type of leather. I got some spots on it when I first got the bag, then I sprayed it with Shining Monkey, I think, or it might have been Scotchguard, and some of the spots miraculously disappeared. I don't know if the spraying had anything to do with it, or if they just faded on their own.

Anything you try might make it worse. If it were mine, I might try to test if soap and water would leave a permanent stain because that is what I would want to use.

Happy Friday, everyone!

Could you please guide me to suede rehab posts? I remember for sure someone very brave tackled remarkably dirty suede bag, but it would probably take me days of sifting through years of posts, and I don't find search feature here particularly useful...

Any help and/or tips will be greatly appreciated!

I don't have any links but in my case I'd say don't waste your money or time on Kiwi suede cleaner. I wash normally, condition the smooth leather parts, then use a nail brush or sand paper on the nap. Don't use dark sand paper because it might transfer color. I haven't had much luck raising nap on suede that has been worn smooth.
