I usually store them closed, otherwise the stuffing doesn't help that much. You could leave a small corner open just in case some moisture gets trapped inside. Some of mine have sat for months. I have more problems with my newer purses losing their shape than my vintage bags.

That's amazing that you found a thrift store that has a Willis. None of my local stores, or even not so local stores, ever has any Coach. The closest I ever came was a dustbag.

Being quite a dog lover, I knew that about poodles. It's just that people who don't know any better get the impression that they are ornamental creatures and don't realize what great dogs they are.

That's a good idea...will leave the zippers open a little.

Yea, poodles aren't just fluff and bows. It's amazing how smart they are. Even the nutty ones are good. We see a standard named Jackie (after Jackie O). She jumps around like a gazelle (she loves the vet). When you get her back to focus she's very good and she has had little training.

Gorgeous...great job! I'm just finishing a brown bucket bag...hopefully will reveal today, with an idea for fixing "slouchy" bags too...watch for it!

I agree with craft paper...unfortunately, rehabbed bags get bigger and require more storage space!

Thank you!! I can't wait to see your brown bucket and your 'slouch' fix!! I've already cleared a space in my closet for these bags. I live in a really really old house and it has only 2 closets. Maybe I can nest some of the bags. Abbie would certainly fit inside zippy.

Ok you guys are making me anxious about the Willis I left behind! The green Sonoma was such a find as it wasn't the typical colors and so different from what I normally find at thrift stores so I grabbed her. Plus I cleaned out my wallet to get her as he only takes cash... the kicker is I very rarely carry cash let alone more than $5 or so.

Oh man, not sure I can get over there today...might have to take my chances and go on Tuesday....Ugh! Luckily, he has a lady friend who keeps bringing him bags to sell.

I'm far from an expert, but it sounds like the green sanoma was quite the find!! Call the store...maybe the guy will hold it for you.

Well I decided to stop by the shop today. I looked at the Willis again and it really was in bad shape, Ltd. Of color loss and wear on the edges and it was stored terribly and has a big wear spot on the back.

But, I didn't leave empty handed. I bought a nearly new Court for the same price. It's brown and my 4th brown Coach...but it's so cute and it's complete and no wrinkles in the top handle like my black Court. I think I will enjoy this little bag a lot.

I love these bags! It doesn't look like it needs much…what are your plans?

I think first off I'll just clean her up. And while damp from Leather CPR I'll stuff her to try and reshape. I may need a little paint or dye for the piping and then she'll be perfect.

I am going to bathe a bag or two today too. I'll be posting them soon!

Is this something I should take my bag back to the boutique for? I've only carried it maybe a dozen times but I don't want to be told in 3 months when it gets worse that it's from use and be SOL.

The second photo is the other side for comparison. The third photo is a spot where the leather has already "chipped". It's a peach rose Madison hobo. I really love this bag! Am I being unreasonable thinking this shouldn't be happening already?

Ok, feeling ambitious today. I ended up bathing 3 of my vintage black bags. One is the one with the green paint on it. I was able to get the majority of the paint off with a little scrubbing and scratching with my fingernail. Here is a before picture. I'll put up an after once it is dry and conditioned.

It's a sink shot!

Sorry about the Willis, but this looks like a great substitute!!

Like you soozlz I live in an old, old house which had no storage space and though we've added built-ins there's still not enough. At the moment my vintage bags, which I don't use, are 'on display' on an antique table in the hall which is wide and such a waste of space. We're thinking of moving so bag storage will be top of mind for me when house hunting!

Great find! I'm so envious. I would never be able to find anything good in a thrift shop here of any designer brand let alone Coach. Etsy and ebay are my only sources.

We've done blanket chests and wardrobe cabinets. This old timer was built in 1780 and renovated in the '30s. It's hard to believe that 2 closets is actually a lot for a tiny farm house in the old days.

Maybe you will find a house with a nice big walk in closet with windowed cabinets for the collection.
