Good evening everyone!! Rehab #3, zip top shopper is finally finished. Between shoveling through most of the last month, looooong work hours and a nasty virus, I didn't think I'd ever get it done.

Does any one have any suggestions on storing bags? I'm using white pillow cases as covers, but I'm unsure if I should put something inside to prevent slouching.

That is stunning! Beautiful! You did a great job. I can only hope to have such a cool vintage bag!

I use bubble wrap and plastic pillows sometimes too. I've heard you have to careful with any that have printing on the outside because the color can come off. I think a lot depends on how long you are going to be storing it. I haven't found any critters in mine, but I'm sure it depends on where you live.

standard, miniature, or toy poodle? I wish they all had puppy cuts.

I'm not sure how long I will store them. The Abbie and 'soon to be rehabed' creel are too small for taking to work. They could be stored for months. Do you zip your stored bags or leave them open?

Cupid is a mini. I brought a toy with me to exam room. I chose one that was a little to big for him, but he picked it up and was trying to run....he kept tripping himself. He wouldn't take a different toy.

Thank you!! Keep your eyes open and also let people know you are collecting and rehabbing. This is 1 of 2 bags my husbands coworker sent to me. My guess they were chatting one day and he mentioned the first rehab I was working on. The next day she sent home 2 bags.

That is so cool she sent 2 bags home with your hubby. I have talked about it work. I did find a thrift store that sounds like he may get a steady supply. So, I'm hoping to go back next week and see if he had anything new. Or, maybe if he still has the Willis I might get that one to rehab. It was in good shape, just flat and very dusty. I'm really hoping he'll have some great colored bags. I have enough black, just about any other color would be fun. I will be sure to post up what I find.

Yea, thrift stores, consignment stores can be good places. That's great you found a Willis at the thrift store. I don't have much luck at thrift stores so if I found something I'd probably get a little dizzy . If I found something at the thrift store and NOT in black, brown or tan I'd be out cold.

Thank you!!

I was wondering about bubble wrap and those plastic "pillows" that also used as packing. I didn't think putting plastic in would be good for the bag. Being breathable, I thought paper may be the way to go.....but not if it attracts visitors

Oh, at work today we saw a 15 week old white poodle pup named Cupid. He was very fluffy and very brave for his vaccine.

We're not short of critters here and I prefer not to use too many chemicals.

Although I personally prefer the puppy cut or 'teddy bear' as I call it, there is some interesting history to the classic poodle cut. Poodles are retrievers - Henri would play fetch for hours if he could- and they were used to retrieve ducks and birds from lakes etc. To reduce the weight of the water they shaved the belly and legs just leaving fur covering the vital organs around the chest and kidneys. I guess the other pom pom stuff was added in later times to be fashionable. Nothing to do with Coach bags though, lol.

I usually store them closed, otherwise the stuffing doesn't help that much. You could leave a small corner open just in case some moisture gets trapped inside. Some of mine have sat for months. I have more problems with my newer purses losing their shape than my vintage bags.

That's amazing that you found a thrift store that has a Willis. None of my local stores, or even not so local stores, ever has any Coach. The closest I ever came was a dustbag.

Being quite a dog lover, I knew that about poodles. It's just that people who don't know any better get the impression that they are ornamental creatures and don't realize what great dogs they are.

I noticed that the strap on my black made in U.S.A. Basic Bag which has serial no in this format xxx xxxx has larger brass dog leash clips than my mahogany made in NYC Basic Bag which has a glued-in serial no. The straps are also fatter. Both have little anchors though on different sides of the clips. I think the brass on the mahogany is solid and that on the black is brass plated. Both are the same length.

Are all BB straps the same? Is there a possibility the black strap is not original to the bag?

Gorgeous...great job! I'm just finishing a brown bucket bag...hopefully will reveal today, with an idea for fixing "slouchy" bags too...watch for it!

What an improvement! Re: storing, I've used crumpled kraft paper. I would hesitate using newspaper because of the ink.

I agree with craft paper...unfortunately, rehabbed bags get bigger and require more storage space!

Ok you guys are making me anxious about the Willis I left behind! The green Sonoma was such a find as it wasn't the typical colors and so different from what I normally find at thrift stores so I grabbed her. Plus I cleaned out my wallet to get her as he only takes cash... the kicker is I very rarely carry cash let alone more than $5 or so.

Oh man, not sure I can get over there today...might have to take my chances and go on Tuesday....Ugh! Luckily, he has a lady friend who keeps bringing him bags to sell.

I stay away from chemicals too. It's not worth the risk to us or our pets.

I prefer the puppy cut too. But the history of the breed is very interesting. Poodles are very smart too. I originally posted about Cupid because he made me think of your avatar....while I was taking a history he was listening and looking at me with the same expression Henri has in is picture. Totally un-coach related
