This morning rehabbing a very dry and scratched vintage rambler in brown, I have very high hopes for a successful rehab of this one:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Di...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

and a kisslock tote in a rather scary light color that's generally in great shape (but has a pocket full of loose tobacco and even a cigarette butt!) but has a few dark spots. This has a glued in serial number that fell off and was actually in the bottom of the bag so I'm going to glue it back on. That's the first time I've ever found one of those little strips loose in the bag..

I never understand why the sellers don't clean the bag before mailing! I always vacuum out any debris I can find. I never want my customers to get grossed that they won't want to use the bag!
Well at least raw tobacco doesn't have the stench of smoke smell from burned tobacco.

Yeah it doesn't seem to have any smoke smell. The rest of the bag is very clean so I think the seller just forgot to look in the inner pocket. It actually doesn't really gross me out. But what bothers me about this bag is there are some obvious marks on this bag that you can't see at all in the listing and I'm honestly wondering if they happened during transit in the sorting machine as the bag was just sent in a priority envelope that offered very little protection. They almost look like deep dents in the leather.

Bummer about the dents. Yeah loose tobacco isn't gross. Hair and used tooth pic on the other hand.
Will the dents come out after the bath.

I have reviewed the bags listing and I'm pretty sure these quite deep scratches were there before the bag was mailed, it's just that I could hardly see them in the pictures. Oh well... At least it didn't have any holes that were concealed! And the mailing bag it came in wasn't damaged either. Anyway, they aren't going to fade away no matter what so I just got to live with them as part of the patina. It's too bad because I already have one of these very close to the same color that's really beat up and I was hoping for an improved one. I really just gotta stop shopping on ebay!

I think they'll both clean up nicely!

Lol me too! I wish I had more options for buying in person. So to that end, I had a little getaway weekend sponsored by a group I am involved with . About 3 hours away. Just finished lunch. I just scoped out a bunch of Goodwills on my path. Maybe I will get lucky! If you see me looking for a quickie authentication this afternoon you will know

This weekend I'm rehabbing a Dinky. These are one of my favorite styles to rehab because they're so easy and fast. The color looked like British Tan in the listing, but now that I see it in person, it's looking like Tabac. The creed was legible enough to authenticate, but the "Made in" text wasn't clear, so I wasn't sure if it was New York City, and was pleasantly surprised that it was. Once again I must sing the praises (adding to the Coach Rehab choir here) of the amazing workmanship and quality of materials used in these bags. What a joy!

Here are Before and Still Drying pics:
