Hi. I'm so happy came across this forum. I have a few bags that I need a serious cleaning. One of the bags is a Camel lunch tote with a signature lining. Would it be okay to bathe this bag?

I have recently purchased an Abbey . I believe it was from 2006. Absolutely love this bag. The leather seems very thick pebble grain. I have no care card . Does anyone know the proper care for this bag. I have the apple leather cleaner and conditioner.

Beautiful bag!

You have to careful using thick white opaque creams like apple on a pebbled leather bag. The conditioner can dry in the little nooks and crannies between the pebbled bumps and then it is impossible to get out.

I usually use the lighter lexol cleaner and conditioner on pebbled bags. But you could spot-test light applications of the apple conditioner in an obscure area and see how it works.

I am fairly new with coach bags not even a year. I'll definitely take your advice in get the new cleaner and conditioner thanks!

KateV and ladies: I've been meaning to ask...How do you deal with curling strap ends? Like LadyRaven's strap ends seem to have relaxed a little in her (WONDERFUL BTW!) "after" shots, but do you guys have a technique? I bought mom a sweet little number, only the ends curling bother me.

Great job on the rehab, LR!!

Great job on the rehab, LR!!

Usually I just wash them and stretch them out flat while they are drying and that does the trick.

I am currently working on a basic bag and one of the straps had slipped out of the holder and had been tied around the dogleash. After I repaired it and washed it was still bulged and mishaped so I stretched it taut between 2 hooks in my closet and left it that way for a few days and now it is much straighter.

Thanks for the compliment! The ends still curl a bit but have relaxed alot. I just condition the strap several times until it supple and soft and lay it flat with a book on top or keep it curled the opposite way for awhile to help straighten it out.

I have two other bags I need to clean. One is a small canvas and navy leather hobo I found at the salvation army for $5. It was filthy. I tried to clean it but it still looks dirty. Any suggestions on how to get this clean?

Well. It appears I have my first rehab project. Miss Willis arrived today from eBay and the seller described it as "like new" hardly. There is a massive grease print (?) on the front with various other spots and the piping is dirty in places and worn. I'm requesting a partial refund because I fully intend to clean and keep the bag. So, what do you ladies suggest I do to restore this gem?

Overall, she is in pretty decent shape, but she needs some tlc. So tell me how to proceed wise ladies! :)

Cute bag! If it were my bag I would probably put it inside a net lingerie bag (or tie it up in a pillowcase) and wash it in the washing machine with woolite on the delicate cycle.

There is always some risk when washing a bag but since you only paid $5 and you are probably not willing to carry it in its current condition - it's probably worth the risk. That's just my opinion please wait to hear from others. Here are before and after pics of a canvas and leather bag that I sent through the washer twice!

Grease stains are very hard to eliminate. Is the bag British Tan? It looks light-colored. I have heard of rubbing cornstarch on the spots to try and absorb the grease but these are pretty old stains so I don't know if that would work.

You might consider contacting the vendor and asking for a return/refund because the item is significantly not as described. Then you could start over with another bag. I don't know how much you paid for it but the vendor might at least offer a partial refund which might make you more comfortable experimenting with the rehab (and possibly failing.)

I would soak the bag in a bath of ivory suds and then rub oxi-clean on the spots and put it in a bag and wash it in the washer on delicate with Leather Therapy Laundry Solutions and Rinse. After it dries I would condition it with black rocks to try and darken it a little and even out the color.

But I have had mixed success in rehabbing lighter colored bags, so again, your best option might be to try and return the bag to the vendor. Good luck!
