I have tried many methods to remove the darkness from handles including magic eraser (I don't recommend it). I've had some success with taking full strength blackrocks (which is also a cleaner, not just a conditioner) and putting it on thicker than normal, letting it sit a minute or 2, and wiping vigorously to remove the excess Blackrocks and whatever dirt it could pull up. that only helped some. Otherwise, I've just left it alone knowing that it was as clean as I could get it and left it at that.

I scrubbed them with a toothbrush lol... They are clean. .. Just gross. It's probably worse to me because that smell stuck with me! I thought about switching out the straps with the market tote but my neighbor bought it!

Well. .. This was hanging from the inside zipper. .. Hopefully not cursed now!

You're probably protected from vampires at least. :D

Someone had posted the name of something that you can use in the edges of a strap. .. can't find it now. .. Does anyone know it off the top of their head? I got a bag yesterday that has really bad straps!

You can use Fiebing's Edge Kote. It comes in black and brown. It is also available on ebay and elsewhere online:

You can also buy small bottles of acrylic paints from the fabric or hobby stores.

I will have to do that with the orange bucket bag I just bought, the strap edging is in bad shape! I will take the hangtag with me to the store to find a good match.

Oh wow! Mine look about like that! Cute bag!

Wow! I've never seen one if those before, but it sure is cute. I have the all leather one and I rehabbed it the regular way - bath with Ivory dish soap, shape with towels, Lexol coat while still somewhat damp, finish with Blackrocks when dry. Mine came out great. I also have a Ghurka bag that is leather and canvas and I did the same thing and it came out great, too. It wasn't until afterward that I realized how dirty it was. Obviously I didn't put conditioner on the fabric.
Good luck with it.
