Right now I have a Rebecca Minkoff bag with a ripped lining. If you think of any good way to repair the lining let me know!

ok ladies... dont panic... i havent done it yet... :lolots: I have two vintage pebbled leather bags needing TLC. one is solid "finished" leather on the inside and the other appears to just be the back of the pebbled leather or perhaps suede (darn newbies) =) they both are VERY stiff and hard one in need of some reshaping... Can I gently dunk them in a warm bath with some woolite? :shame:
Advice?!?
Just got this authenticated (Thank God)...it's not in horrible shape, but could use some structuring/reshaping...would you recommend dunking it? Thinking...if it's not too girly, giving it to the hubby for an ipad carrier!

I rehabbed that same bag (or similar, it came in different sizes.) I gave it a bath, stuffed it to shape it while drying, applied moisturizer and black rocks. Buffed the leather and polished the brass, and it came out nice. See before and after pics at the link below:

Nice bag and I don't think it is girly.

Can you post pics? What color are the bags? It sounds to me like they would be fine if you give them a bath. I would be careful with bright colors like red, although I have washed red bags successfully.
If they are stiff they may need moisturizer while they are still damp and drying to keep them from cracking.
Here are the steps I usually take for rehabbing:

I have that same bag and it's my favorite. I have some fawn Frye boots that it looks great with. I dunked mine and gave it the full treatment and it looks great and I think it's really cool looking, too.
Thank you for the response, they are both WHITE pebbles leather. I really thought they would be ok as well just wanted to run it past the PROS!! Hats off to all you ladies! LOVE THIS FORUM!!![]()
Update on my dinky (I just like saying that lol!)...
The Lexol started having a really weird creamy coating. I started over, redunked it, and I'm now hand applying the Montana oil each morning. It's on day 3 now and becoming really beautiful! The color is starting to be consistent and it's soft and wonderful! Beginning to think there is hope! The Black rocks gets here next week, so I'm just going to keep applying the oil each day and see! Tried to take a clear picture. With flash it looks purple and without it's hard to tell but trust me. .. It's coming along now! Thanks so much for the encouragement and tips!

dont know why, but they are a bit of an obsession now. whenever i see one, i have to bid on it and rescue it. its somewhat embarrassing, and i need to sell a couple. i mean, really, how many musettes can a decent person own!! i do have one distressed muse that i was thinking of trying to rehab, but have never done much with a bag other than dunk, condition, etc. if i get daring i will post it for suggestions.
I've learned that lexol can be over done. She's lookin good!!!
