Jessi319...TY...when they update my privileges, I'll respond!

Ok...here is a big ugly that I've used for school (I'm a professor God help me)....it's nasty and I am afraid that the red/tan will bleed whatever I try. Suggestions?

I did run into this problem with a white Hamptons bag that had vachetta trim and I think the dye on vachetta leather is less stable? IF this leather on your bag is finished, you may have better luck. I actually just stuck my bag in the washing machine, and even though I had to fix the bleeding dye job, I managed to use a Tide to go pen to wick out the brown dye and the bag looked wearable again, tho' not perfect. But the white was so much fresher and cleaner. I removed the images from my Image shack and now have a new computer ...ugg so can't find the originals. I"ll look later.

I am not quite done with this bag. I need to reinforce/strengthen some worn piping and do a bit more edge touchups, etc. But you can see the MAJOR changes just applying the Leather Therapy oil did for this bag. The darkened areas are relatively healthy parts of the leather, the parts that were covered up by the flap, etc. I wasn't expecting the final color I got:

The bag felt CHALKY dry. almost to crumbling stage. A bath helped, but it dried so fast..thankfully I got some Leather therapy on her before she was totally dry though I almost didn't make it!!

Image shack likes to decide for me how to orient my otherwise properly laid out photos GRRR.

The inside didn't need much work but I did a layer of Tandy Leather Weld and will do a bit more on the very edge soon. Otherwise, this was just day after day, one application each day of Leather Therapy Oil. After 2 weeks of that I included a little Fiebings 4 way, Obenaufs, and BlackRocks. It STILL is absorbing therapy oil so I know I could keep going.

Stunning--what a difference! I think I need to add some of the Leather Therapy oil to my rehabbing arsenal.

Wow that's crazy how dark and beautiful the bag looks now!!! I love it!

Ok guys. ... feeling very desperate now! Please help! Below is the bag this morning. The Montana oil is barely visible on the bottom now but the hang tag is still dark. The main issue is still the front flap. It was so much dryer than the rest of the purse and is remaining darker as I go along. I've only used the Lexol on it. What are my options at this point? (Besides carry it backwards. .. my husband's suggestion lol)

Bottom (Montana oil)

Front (back was in best shape, front is awful)

I think that bag is really dry! I can see wrinkling on the bottom and the flap looks like sandpaper. I sugget daily conditioning with rest periods in between. A dry red bag is a tough rehab. I know that you are attached to it but you didn't spend much on it, so just give it your best and see what happens.

And remember that light bags and red bags have a tendency to darken after you condition them, but the darkness may fade away completely in a couple/few weeks.

Looking gorgeous! I'd like to find that bag someday!

Thanks for the input. ..I didn't realize how bad it was until I saw the above before shots! This may be a long rehab with a Maroon bag in the end!

You like the hard ones! First a red bag and now a white one! If it were my bag I would tie it in a pillow case and cycle it through the washer and then see what happens - but if you spent a lot you may not want to risk it.

I'm pulling it from the washer in exactly 6 minutes lol! It's so disgusting that I was going to burn it, thrift it, or wash it. .. chose the later! I've definitely gotten my money's worth on it. .. carried me through grad school and beyond!
