I hope this is the right place/way to post! I've never used a board/thread like this so bear with me! Ok... First. ..I am a Coach addict and a vintage one in the making lol! I got really inspired by you guys and threw my little red vintage (dinky I think) into a sink of warm soapy water. I'm now hyperventilating! I only paid $10 for it but it's adorable and I don't want to ruin it. It was shockingly dry and faded when I got it and I used an olive oil/vinegar Pinterest bad idea on it and made it look 10x worse!

Trying to add photos. .. Hope this works!

I recently bought a Legacy zip from Etsy. It is authenticated that it is made in 1996.Thank you so much, Hyacinth!

It was the bag I always wanted to own and I wanted the one made in US.
I am very happy with this purchase and I read this thread and tried rehab for the first time.

It was already in a great condition, but I tried bath and coath leather moisturizer, and Brasso.

I totally forgot to take "before" picture but here are "After" pictures.
Thank you everyone for all the informations here!!

I just love this bag and it almost feel like this is brand new!!
At least, it doesn't look & feel like 17 year old bag.

It came out beautifully! Congrats on your first rehab!

Congrats! It came out beautiful. I still don't have one of these. They're so cute.

You might have to use a lot of soap to get rid of the olive oil.

I really have no idea what made me think that was a good idea! The bag was in such bad shape. ..I was desperate lol! It's now drying and doesn't look half bad. Still a little concerned though. .. There was a lot of red in the sink after it soaked! There's a little dark area on the front, but it's still dripping wet so who knows!

Drenched!

These bags tend to lose a lot of dye but don't worry, there is so much dye that it won't affect the final color. I'm a little worried that the dark area might be from the olive oil. If that is the case, you might have to dunk it again and scrub that area.

It probably is. The front flap was so dry that it looked pink compared to the rest! Should I just go ahead and do it now if it's inevitable?

Sorry, I didn't see your answer right away. You can dunk it again now or wait. If you wait, you might be able to see if there are any other areas that might need work.

I'll start all over. .. The trauma of seeing a leather purse go into water is still with me lol! On another note. .. For those that don't like using chemicals. ..I cleaned the chain with salt and vinegar and it came out really well! I'm not one to shy from chemicals, just haven't bought Brasso yet!

Don't worry. I've seen dark spots like that after a dunking and once it dried everything evened out. I've also done a red Willis and it came out beautifully. Just wait and see how it looks once it's dry.
