Wow! The cherry blossoms on the red purse are coming out beautiful! I can't wait to see the finished result...
I got a Tribeca today in the mail, bought it on Etsy, and it was listed as Navy, but after a nice wash, it is black... I can't wait for it to dry!

And on the seam that is loose above, perhaps hot glue... it works really well on fabric, and I don't think it would go through the leather... of course, I have not tried it, so try it on a small area first...

Here is a thread about piping repair.

I used this product with fairly decent results. I used it to repair and build up the existing piping. It was not a flawless result but after I did the repair I painted the repaired area to give it a more even tone. After that I sealed it for added protection.

Can I ask, what did you use to seal the piping repair? Thanks.

Hia!

Evidently, I bought this bag today.

Item Name : Coach Small Duffle (c. 1998)
Item #: 190571127066
Link : http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...#ht_500wt_1413

And a closeup of the creed:

I say, "evidently" because I asked the seller to provide the creed photo, but she wasn't able to get back to me until after the listing ended. I then asked if she were going to relist it, so I could try my hand bidding for it - over $100 was too high for a bag I'd really have to work hard on to get back into shape. So she just sent me an invoice for the starting bid price, and Bob'sYerUncle! :weird::shocked::smile1: Anyway, I have to inspect it physically before I start asking questions again.

Um...just something I've noticed lately... I've gone a little nuts over the rehabbing designer purse thing in the past month or two, so i've been trying to get more educational info out of other name-brand-maker-forums on here. Is it just me, or is there a definite personality/culture/attitude difference between those people who collect and respect (vintage) Coach bags, and those who collect other bags? I'm sensing there seems to be a deeper respect and a thicker involvement for Coach-followers/collectors. Rather makes me wonder about people. *sigh.

I can't see the pics but good luck with your new acquisition! I warned you that rehabbing can become addictive!

Well, not everyone is into vintage, and that's okay (that just means that there will be more great bags for us to find!) But Coach has one of the largest communities on the forum, so there are a lot more of us around to catch the rehabbing bug and enjoy sharing tips and talking about our vintage finds, etc.

But some of the other larger communities (Hermes, Louis Vuitton) also have active and dedicated rehabing threads. I've learned a lot from Docride at the Hermes forum.

But I know what you mean, rehabbing is a lot more fun when you can share your finds and results with fellow-addicts! I think I made a great find at the Savers today, but I don't have anyone to share it with! :shrugs:

I bought an amazing bag for $13 and I think that it is a genuine Isabella Fiore "Quilty Pleasures" bag from around 2005. I have been researching IF bags and they usually run from $400 to $600 new so that was a great buy.

There are some IF threads on TPF but they don't seem to be very active. So I hope you won't mind if I share her with my fellow coachies? I know that you guys will always appreciate a beautiful bag and a great rehab project. Here are the pics: http://s1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee413/katev2/Isabella Fiore Brown Hobo/

Docride is VERY knowledgeable, and I appreciate the way she expresses it. I'm talking about the not-very-nice people. So far, I'm W-A-Y more impressed with the Coachies for not only being nice people, but interested in knowing the bags and being articulate in sharing the knowledge. Doing the rehab thing may not be just a hobby for some folks; it may very well be the only way they can ever afford a designer brand. I'm a little sad at the way some of the forums interact...kinda like they think they're the popular kids at school? Heh, at this stage of life, I'm so totally over that.

HO-LEE-COW. That doesn't even look like a rehab job, and that is a really beautiful color. How did THAT end up there!? That is awesome. Savers?? What is this, and where can I find some?!? :D

Can I ask, what did you use to seal the piping repair? Thanks.

I have only done this with dark leather because it does darken the leather a bit, but I wanted something to replace the shine in the leather repair were the glue is and protect it from water or sun or what ever else. I use something called sno-seal. It has a breathable wax mix in it and came recommended on leatherworker.net it has no silicone or animal oils.

I have also read about a mop n global mix concoction, but I have NOT tried that. :push:

I know, the color is wonderful! It reminds me of the color of the whiskey legacy bags. The bag is large and very heavy. She's in great great shape and really doesn't need much rehabbing at all. I had never even heard of Isabella Fiore, but as soon as I saw that bag I knew that it was special!

Savers is a very large thrift store chain, they recently opened 2 stores in my area but I have only been to the nearest one so far. They have a big supply of bags that are usually pretty reasonably priced. Plenty of cheap, tacky plastic bags and some fakes, too - but I have found some nice vintage bags there.

I used the liquid vynil first to build up the leather were the damage is, let it dry, then do a paint touch up to even out the color (It looks a little plastic like were the glue is.) Then I add the sno seal to add protection and shine.

I LOVE Savers!! The last time I was there I found a cute red Brighton that I rehabbed and re-sold on E-bay... I am not so much into Brighton, but it brought 4 times what I paid for it, so I was very excited. Did you know that every time you donate at Savers they give you a coupon for $3 off a $10 purchase? They also have an online club you can join to get discounts, and mine offer 25% off every Monday and 50% off on major holidays... this Monday they have 50% off the entire store actually...

I am currently working on a navy Tribecca, and it is drying wierd, and it looks faded out no matter how much I moisturize it. Has anyone else had this problem with navy? The handle also has a place where it has been chewed on by something like a mouse perhaps, this was not in the photos of the bag when I bought it, that part of the handle was cut off on the top of the pic, as the bag was hanging up.... I am not happy about it, but I don't really want to return it either, I see it as a challenge, so thinking I will just see what I can do with it. Has anyone successfully dyed a bag on here? What about actually replacing missing leather on a handle? Is that even possible?

And that bag from Savers is gorgeous!

I just spent all day rehabbing a bag and ran out of the Meltonian conditioner I usually use. I ran out and picked up some Lexol conditioner. The Lexol seems to leave a tacky feeling on the leather that is unpleasant to touch, especially on the handle. I've buffed it pretty good and that tackiness isn't going away. I've never had that happen with the other conditioners. I'm wondering if I should give it a quick wash with Lexol cleaner or just put a different conditioner on top of it. Anyone?
