Oh btw I didn't wear gloves and it washed right off my hands. If you font like the color you can wash right off. After a few hours you can lift by massaging in conditioner and wiping off. Most will come off. After a few days acetone is the only way.

The bag now has both dye and blackrocks on it. Should I wait a week and then wash it to remove the BR before trying to redye it? The color of the bag still looks much better than original even with the uneveness due to using the blackrocks. I kind of hate to strip it again.

You have experience using this product, what do you advise? Thanks!

I posted about this bag in the "bargain" thread, I'm going to say it was $5 even though the shippping brought it a little over $20. I DID notice that before I bid but I took the plunge anyway. Anyway, I found it on the Wayback machine and it is from Spring 2000 a New SUEDE LACED SMALL SLIM DUFFLE, 48” adjustable strap11 3/4 (L) x 10 (H) x 3 (W) in Pool. Price: $228 Style No: 9112

Here is the before, you can't really tell but it was really dirty at the top near the zipper:

I pulled up where the buckle attachment covered the suede so you can see what the color was originally and how dirty it was:

Strangely, the bottom was probably the cleanest part:

It was no where near as dirty as the shearling bag I cleaned up (I don't think I ever posted afters), but I didn't expect it to clean up as well because I think the blue was probably faded. I am just guessing, but I wonder if the light colored suede bags don't suffer from the natural "brown" of the leather showing through after awhile? Just a guess.

Anyway, I sprayed it with "Shout", scrubbed it with a wash cloth, and threw her in the washer with some towels. I always do an extra rinse with my bags, and sometimes restart it and do an extra rinse cycle to make sure I get all the soap out. I actually took the strap off and just threw it in towards the end, during the rinse cycle to clean and "flatten" where the buckles were attached.

After I took it out, I went over it gently with a suede brush and hung it to dry. I doubled the strap for the picture, because it was LONG and it was hard to get the whole thing in a picture. I would def wear this long and cross body. As I expected, the new legacy tassel I bought with my last PCE was a near perfect match, so I put it on for her photo shoot:

Here she is with her "I don't need no stinkin' rehab" small Marielle that I found the same day:

The nap isn't quite laying right, but I have found when I've worked with other suede items that after it's used and softened a bit, it just comes back. I did lightly brush it. The disadvantage to suede is that it's a little stiff and there's really no way to condition the leather.

It's a tiny little bag, I think it would be perfect for an iPad, but it came out pretty cute. I just realized I didn't spray her with suede protector yet but I will probably do that next.

I really REALLY love these!!! the tassle is adorable!!

I haven't used blackrocks so I'm not sure of its properties. I hate to even say it but since I've only read your threads on the product it sounds pretty heavy duty. Maybe washing it is the only way to get down to redo the color.

Pretty, pretty, pretty!

Crescent bag is done. Not super psyched with the restorer stuff, but it's good enough.
Dye is dry, brass is polished, only thing left to do is condition (gonna just use Apple because I don't wanna risk doing ANYTHING to mess this thing up ever again LOL)... Oh, and wait for a hangtag to come in the mail.

This is just beeaauuttiiffuull...and you've found the magic potion for fixing water spots!

I have no doubt you saved his life!:D:smile1:He is beautiful! I have a boxer.....they are wonderful and most of the time very goofy.

What a great story! I would have been sad to give him up! One time my dog got out and I got a call from someone who lived 10 miles away who found him just sitting on his porch. My dog had a tag with our phone number. Before we got him fixed, he used to wander and whenever he couldn't find his way home, he just sat in someone's yard until we found him. I guess he was smarter than we thought because you are supposed to stay in one place when you are lost as it makes it easier for people to find you.

Great job. Boxers are hard not to love. I like these kind of rehab projects the best!

What a sweetie, so glad you were able to reunite him with his family!

Oh, he is so cute! That was so kind of you :flowers:

That's wonderful, and so nice of you!

thank you all! He had such a face! It was obvious he belonged to someone. There are a lot of loose dogs out here, and when I'm out running I'm always torn whether or not to let them follow me. They could be miles from home already or right in front of their house (though from going out almost every day, all these years, I know just about every dog). Since this guy was right in front of my house I let him follow me on my run, hoping I'd run across his owners looking for him. Several times I've had people approach me asking if I'd seen their dog that got out over night.

And he was neutered! You almost never see that out here in the country. Even though he didn't have a collar, I though since he was neutered there was a good chance he was microchipped so if I hadn't found his family Friday night, I would have taken him to get scanned Saturday morning.

It was also gratifying to hear that they had been looking for him, I have found dogs that I didn't think should go back to their owners, including a pitbull with a tow chain bolted around his neck. I have never seen a chain that heavy before, much less bolted around a dogs neck! I ended up taking him to animal humane and trying to express that he should not go back to his owners, if they even bothered to look. He was the sweetest dog too I teased my daughter that we should find a home for our dog and keep him!

But, anyway, not only had they put up signs but when the mother called me she said she'd been out looking for him and was so happy to come home and find him with her husband and girls. Turns out he was also microchipped.

It was very gratifying to reunite him with a family who loved him after all the times I've been able to do nothing to help.

Thanks...I haven't used fray-check...yet. How do you apply it? Does it dry clear?

I have used it on many fabrics and it has always dried clear for me, but it's a good idea to spot check first.

Just trim any stray threads in the area and smooth the fabric down into the correct position. Then dab a little fray-check on and let it dry. It's easy!

I have used it on many fabrics and I recently used it on my black Kate Spade microfiber messenger bag.

That bag is an old friend that has been on many trips with me, but it was getting tired-looking and the corners were starting to wear. I gave it a trip through the washer, dried it and applied fray-check to the bottom corners and now it is ready for more adventures!

City Bag is all squeaky clean, has had a shaping massage, and is now taking a rest to dry. They are so darn pretty when they're wet!
