What is the original color? You could try blackrocks leather n rich to see if is darkens and evens out the color.

I used black rocks on this bag and it really helped to improve the color and make it more consistent:

I think the original color is a hunter green. I hadn't tried black rocks yet since I read your post about it inhibiting dye uptake. I will give it a try and report back. Thanks for your input.

Blackrocks will inhibit dye absorption, but since you have already given it a few coats of moisturizer, you should probably rewash and dry it before trying to dye it anyway.

I have pretty much decided that I am going to try black rocks on my blue casey bag before resorting to dye myself.

Good luck!

I discovered a few things. The smokey bag that I had washed with borax and baking soda dried with a white film on it even though I thought I had rinsed it well. The inside suede was stiff too. Even after hanging outside for a week, the smoke smell was still there so I don't know that the borax and baking soda did anything. I rewashed it and it is almost dry now. There doesn't seem to be a film on the outside but the suede isn't soft.

Secondly, I had a bag that looked like it had a couple of grease spots that didn't wash out. I tried a paste of baking soda without any luck. Then today I dabbed them with alcohol. I kept doing it throughout the day and the spots are mostly gone now.

Here is a picture of my recently acquired, very abused Swagger bag. I bathed it and have given it two coats of Leather CPR. To the left is the inside pocket flap, to the right the outside of the bag! Is Leather refinisher the way to go?

I rehabbed her twin a short while ago...mine responded VERY well to Leather CPR followed by Blackrocks. Back to a beautiful, rich black! Links to AT, details and reveal:

I've had a little success on spots with Mean Green (dollar store de-greaser, generic of Simple Green). Not knowing "what" a spot is, or how long it's been there, always makes it more difficult. Comes in a spray bottle and I use a toothbrush to work it in...hope it helps.

I also love this style! The leather seems super thick and sturdy. After my first black rocks application, and now having a definitely dry all the way through bag, I've concluded the bag was originally navy. I think it is going to take more than black rocks, as the current outside color is super muted green, kind of a dirty green. Thank you Katev and JOODLZ for the input. I am going to order navy leather refinisher.
