I may pass and wait for something better. I have bought from salearea before and when I got my bag I couldn't find a thing wrong with it even though she mentioned scuffing and stains in the listing LOL! It did have some nail polish on it but I scratched that off with my fingernail and it's perfect! I love the style of the Gracie...I just want one for the shape and style if anything else. I may hold out for a chestnut colour or something since I have two black bags already.

I chain would look awesome as a strap! I don't know about wear though but it might rub since the straps are through the inside of the bag :(

thanks for the kind words ladies! :) the gracie base is pretty bent out of shape and honestly would be difficult to regain its form :(

For those of you who have had to give your bags multiple baths, or spot clean stains by various methods, have you gone through one wash, and the usual conditioning process first to see how it looks?

I washed a very dirty tan bag and it looks 98% improved, but there is some mysterious dark staining and one line of ink from a pen. I am inclined to go ahead and condition before trying anything on those stains...but advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

I would probably go ahead and condition and see how it looks. The conditioning process may darken and even out the color of the bag to make the flaws less obvious. But if I know immediately that I won't be able to carry the bag unless the stains are removed. I'd probably go ahead and rewash it - or try spot cleaning.

Remember, alcohol will lighten the ink spot and also the leather dye as well.
If you wash twice, be sure to let it dry in between, or do it right away. You don't want the bag to sit wet for too long or you will create a mold issue.

Thank you. I used a bit of alcohol on the ink line prior to the bath, and it did indeed look a little lighter around the line. I conditioned it last night (it was still a little damp) and I have to say it looks pretty good. The conditioner darkened the leather in a nice way, and the line is much less noticeable. My plan is another conditioning tomorrow, buffing (I'm not sure on the ideal timing for buffing?) and then brass polishing, then I'll see overall whether I want to do anything else about the stains.

Well, my Regis just got here! I was actually a bit surprised at the dry condition she was in since my only other caviar leather bag is pretty much pristine. I have tried to capture all of her issues. One is some dark marks on the leather. I am not sure if it is rubbed off color or something actually on the leather. She is a bit dirty on the outside, almost perfect on the inside save a couple spots. So those of you familiar with this Italian leather, please let me know what I should do for cleaning/moisturizing? I will be going out this afternoon so where can I buy the best conditioner? Thanks for the help!

Have you tried wiping down with a damp cloth to see what (if anything) will come out first? That would definately be my first line of attack. I haven't ever really tried to condition any pebbled leather bags, but I know that you aren't supposed to use any opaque conditioners on them. I also know that white leather is sometimes more sensitive to certain conditioners. I'm pretty sure Katev has conditioned pebbled leather bags, hopefully she will respond with some good advice :smile1:

Well, I ended up visiting a leather shop nearby. I told him it was caviar leather so he gave me some Lexol leather conditioner. It is kind of a yellowish colored liquid but very thin so it pretty much goes on clear. It says it may darker light leathers but I don't think I had any trouble with that. After only a couple coats and about an hour and a half here is how she turned out!

Here is that area with the dark spots:

Lexol is great! Glad that worked for you! She is pretty!

Ok, so I just picked up a black Rambler for 25 shipped and guess what! I did not really :phave to do anything to it except condition. I may do a light metal polish, but that's about it. Nice change of pace getting an EUC bag I don't have to work on.

Now, I just have to figure out which bag I like better. The Rambler or the Station bag. Any opinions? I have two black vintage and can only keep one. I like the thick strap on the rambler and like the handle on the station....so its a toss up.

She looks wonderful! You are really brave to tackle a white pebbled leather bag, fantastic job!

I assume you mean Rambler's Legacy? I have an older Rambler bag which is a bit different than the Legacy, so just wanted to be sure. I do love the look of the Station bag, but I"m thinking the Rambler is bigger? and I too love the straps of the Rambler and I never carry a bag except on the shoulder, and the thicker strap fits nicely and feels sturdy.
