I have also run suede through a washer, but it was a skirt, also lined in like colored fabric.

well, if we're going there, I ran a blue suede skirt through the washer in the 80's and it came out gorgeous, if only it hadn't rudely shrunk a couple years later after I had kids when I tried to wear it. ;)

I don't know how it magically happened, it had fit me fine the winter before. :p

Funny how kids can shrink our clothes. ;)

I have my first finished bag and wanted to say thank you to everyone for all the wonderful information on this thread! I bought this bag at my local Goodwill.
I bathed this bag in wool wash and then did an initial conditioning with Leather CPR. I then moved on to a mixture of 1 T Leather CPR with 1/2 tsp Linen acrylic paint mixed in. I used a makeup applicator sponge to apply this in a small circular motion. I used this same ratio with a stiff paintbrush and sponge on the strap edges. Lastly I used Brasso on the metal.
This was authenticated on the Authentication Thread as a Shoulder Pouch from the 1987 Lightweight line, thank you awesome authenticators for your time! It was not a very drastic rehab, just needed a little cleaning, conditioning and cover of minor spots.

Awesome! Did you see your bag's sister? Same color, slightly different design, drawstring flap girl?

You did an awesome job!

Thank you whateve, katev, gallina66 and Jessi319 for the encouragement! I've really learned a lot from all of you and appreciate the feedback.

Thanks for the reply katev on the wenol :)

my lightweights aren't ready for posting, but I think we should start a reference thread for "lightweight" line bags. If any of you with already cleaned/refurbed bags want to start it I'd be happy to contribute when the time comes.

My daughter is 24 (tomorrow) it would probably fit her now... :( If still had it.

GAWD, 24 years ago, I was in labor, RIGHT NOW! and she's out drinking with her friends. kinda rude. :roflmfao:
haha. &it's funny that so many of the ladies on here my age have kids in their 20's and I got such a late start...about to start my little man in first grade this fall.

What you mean I can't stop?!? I can stop anytime I want to....just because I have one bag in progress, three waiting in the wings, three on their way in the mail doesn't mean anything :p Yeah, I'm pretty addicted. It is so fun!

LOL-me too! Any time I want, it's all over. At least, until the bag I bought today is finished. It's my last one...and I finish my works in progress, and the one I just took out of the washer, then I'm done. I swear!

:roflmfao:

Oh, they're cute at that age, but YAY, I'm done! Turns out I was two bars down the street at happy hour with MY friends! Fortunately, she and her friends are responsible enough to designate a driver so I can go to sleep and not worry tonight.

I can't believe there are 2 bids on this poor thing. I would love to see how someone rehabs this after it was used as a cutting board.

OK, which one of you nuts is it? Fess up!

I seriously see some of these bags and want so hard to bid on them just to see what I can do with it. I think that's why I couldn't resist my lil trash can, wrong side of the tracks city bag.

It's not how old you are when you start but rather how much energy you have to keep up with him. :). I have 3 boys ( 23, 21 and 19) and I have my days were I miss the craziness of cub scouts, peewee football and calls from the principals office. Enjoy it now because they grow up fast.

And here she is, all done.

I might re-do it tho, because I was a bit of a fraidy-cat with it being my first time and I didn't even dare tackle the little pen marks on the back. And I was pretty gentle with the dirt on the tophandle. But now I'm not afraid anymore, so I might try again and be a bit more aggressive. :p

Oh YAY!, she came out great. And thanks for the metal polishing advice, though I'm cursing you and all your metal polishing cronies on the inside. I HATE that part of the process and have been doing a half a$$ed job at it, and you're making me look like a slacker.

As a matter of fact, I had decided to give my daughter my BT Willis as part of her B-Day gift, (and hope she appreciates, I am not sure she will) and when I got it out to pack it, turns out I really need to polish the brass.

Bleh...HATE that part! and I need to find a better tool to clean up the turn locks! The razer blade thing makes me nervous!

OMG, it looks brand new! I can't imagine tackling a white bag as your first rehab, great job!

The bag is GORGEOUS!!!!

Oh no, I missed it, where can I find her?
