Hello, all! Just thought I'd share in case anyone was interested.
I was looking around again today, and found the Leather Therapy Leather Laundry Solution for $30 a gallon.. I truly am dying to give this a try (Is this the brand you use, katev?), but I can't trust my bags to our washer since it has that central agitator (versus front loading). Seems to be a pretty awesome price, as last I checked, it was ~15 for a smallish bottle that was definitely not half a gallon... I don't know what shipping costs are though - I always go to the B&M store.

That is the stuff I use and that is a great price!

I just didn't have the energy to drag them all out for a formal portrait today, so I shot 'em where they live...and did a little photoshopping!

The ones on the right side of the horizontal shelf have been authenticated (Hyacinth has been wonderful!) and rehabbed. The ones on the left (slumping) and most of the ones on the vertical shelf are in line for authentication and most will be rehabbed. And on the floor (which I had scrubbed just for them!), all but the Day Pack have been authenticated. Of those, only the Mercer Computer Tote hasn't had a bath.

Oh yeah, did I mention the belt collection? BeenBurned has graciously authenticated all of them over the last week or so.

Thanks everyone for teaching me how to care for this brood...there's lots yet to do!

Very impressive collection and a nice display too!

OK...I'm about ready to dive in to my first rehab...can anyone tell me if this bag is a hard one to rehab? I'm kinda worried about the "encrusted with pet hair" blurb! LOL

I successfully rehabbed the bag at the link below and all the seams and crevices were loaded with animal hair! I mostly just kept working on it with the vacuum and a old toothbrush to get rid of the hair.

The bag you are interested in doesn't look hard to rehab at all. My only concern is that they don't show a close-up photo of the creed patch so that it could be authenticated.

Here is the whitney bag i was concerned a while back about dunking. Well I got brave and just went for it since the bag was to a point where I wasn't going to carry it in public looking like it did. All I had was plain green dawn dish soap so that's what I used.

First picture -Before - The huge spot on the bottom was probably a water stain. It was like that when I got it. The spots on the flap got there while i was using it. I *think* someone dribbled coffee on it while it was in the office at work. I used to always sit it right below a shelf where people sit their coffee cups.

Next couple pics she is getting a bath. The water was pretty ucky.

Last picture is after 3 days of drying and 2-3 treatments of apple conditioner.

It's still not perfect. if you really look closely at the right angle you can still see the huge water mark that was on the bottom but it is now FAR less visible. The flap came out completely clean again.

I feel like this bag is now usable

It looks so much better, nice job! You might try conditioning with blackrocks next, it helps to even out the color.

Hi all. I need advice.
I bought a black vintage Willis. It is in beautiful shape which is why I got it. I was too afraid to try doing a rehab.
I wore it today and my husband showed me some black was coming off on my white Tshirt!!!!
I have rubbed abd rubbed every square inch of it with a terry towel but some still seems to be coming off!
What should I do?????

It sounds like it has been covered with shoe polish! Can you return it and get a refund?

Oh! I have a similar one of thse, never knew the name, that I carried until it almost bit the dust - it was the perfect minimal bag!

it has been on the rehab pile because of strap issues. Any suggestions anyone?

Does yours have the key thingie?

No, mine doesn't have a key thingie, and there isn't a spot for one so I don't think it is missing. It must be a different model.

I would use a sharp nail scissors to trim the threads and then take it to a cobbler to repair the stitching. Nice color especially with the dark blue lining!

The colour of the minwax looks like it would cover up some of the marks on the body of the bag and make it more like the straps. Do you like the colour? Is this dye solid or liquid? Maybe the hangtag is not the original one, and that's why it is darker?
The dye is liquid, oil-based wood stain. I think the color is close to the original color. I didn't buy it to match - it is leftover from my cabinets. I think that it could make the color more even. I am just worried about getting it on there evenly. Actually the hangtag is the right color on one side but really dark on the other. It is not suede on that side, like it would be if the hangtag had separated, but it doesn't have the Coach imprint either.

I tested minwax on the back of the pocket of my slim kisslock tote. What do you think? Should I do the entire bag? Any suggestions on how to get the color on even? The handles of the bag are a lot darker than the rest of the bag. I don't even know why the hangtag is so dark.

My two cents worth...I think you will continue to have uneven color, because of the age of the leather, and it's current color variation, even by coloring with Minwax. But I think it might be an overall improvement. How are you applying the stain? I used a t-shirt scrap (with gloves on!) and rubbed it in. I used several coats as well, letting it dry thoroughly in between.

The hangtag may have been a replacement. And I think the older Coach Leatherware tags were single-sided, not smooth leather on both sides.

Hope this helps...Good Luck!

Thanks, but I didn't make it to the Coach outlet after all!

I had a few hours free on an afternoon but I found out I would have to take 2 trolleys and spend an hour and a half to get to the nearest outlet - so I decided to go to the spa and get a massage instead! :D

Welcome back!! I bet you had a lot to catch up on in here :D These rehab gals have been keeping busy. I stayed off the computer most of Mothers Day weekend and almost couldn't keep up with everybody when I got back on here!!!
