Coach Is Closing 70 Full Price Stores

Well i do know after being in FP and Factory Coach way to much in the past week lol The Factory is where the sales are, just like many of the articles posted in this thread.

For myself, i looked in the FP store... even at what was on so called "special" but nothing stood out and i also knew i could get a bag at the factory, while quality varies it isn't necessarily top notch at the FP store either...
it massively varies by product, i have both FP and Factory stuff so i am capable of seeing the differences.

I landed at a factory purchase because the item did what i wanted and i did not want to overpay for something that i know i will tire of in a bit... trying to be realistic here i could buy a FP model but frankly most wouldn't have a clue in my area where it came from. Generally, the Coach brand is market saturated here along with it's nemesis MK it wouldn't make any difference at all except to my pocketbook.

When i buy full price i often do so at Roots lol i guess because i like knowing that same purse(or bloody close too) is NOT down at the factory for 70% off... even better deal if i grab one on sale, trouble with Roots and why I started into Coach years ago is they lack variety and sometimes i want more and/or different than their staples re-done in new colours.

I'll be curious to see what Coach does & goes, Again though the Factory store i go too is hopping the FP is moderate to dead and they are parked right beside a MK so they get to go head to head.

I only go to one fp store in Sacramento, always empty. My outlet is usually very busy and I was told they're expanding next month and opening a mens store. I hope they're still moving forward with this.

I use to visit both the Sacramento and Roseville locations, both of them usually have very few customers, about 1-3 at most. I always see customers walking out empty handed, though. Rarely I see one holding a Coach shopping bag. It's sad. On the bright side though, both FP Coach stores in Sacramento and Roseville are still open. So that's good news.

not my coach apparently. We're getting a nordstorms, and there's already a bay in the store selling coach stuff. There's always someone in there when i walk past the store.
They assume that the remodels had something to do with increasing business. Maybe the stores they remodeled were already the higher performing locations.

+1 maybe those stores are located in areas where they are experiencing a higher than normal tourist traffic.

I was reading a Yelper's review on a Coach store in Emeryville (she wrote it on 1/28/2010), and when I checked the business listing, I was surprised to see it marked "CLOSED". :( The other two stores in Union Square and Westfield Mall at SF doesn't have the "CLOSED" message on them, so I'm not sure if they're still open or not.

Isn't Union Square a flagship store? I'd hate to see that one close. It's where I bought my first Coach bag.

Post Street is a flagship - people probably refer to it as "Union Square" (even though it's a few blocks off the square). Westfield Centre is newer, but they should remain open (at least that's what SA's in both boutiques say). The one in the mall does constant business - lots of tourists - and people like shopping in the indoor mall - as it's a 5 story mall, with a theater on top, and quite a few restaurants. Post Street for sure will remain open.

As for "the list".... I think I saw one (someone posted a link?) back in the beginning of the year when the new CEO took over. I remember glancing at it - but I was only interested in CA. Unfortunately I didn't save it. I'll try to google around tomorrow.

It has been a couple months since I have been my store. But last time they told me they were made a flagship store where they had been a fashion boutique. From what I understand this is based on number of sales and then merchandise will be adjusted accordingly. They used to be a flagship before and then "downgraded" but now upgraded again. I was surprised because I never see anyone in there anymore. And they are right next to a Belk on one end that sells Coach and has "limited exclusions" sales and Nordstrom that has a very small Coach selection
