Wasn't entirely sure where to post my comment but I know we've discussed Coach's closest competition (stolen market share) here on this thread (probably other threads too) but our dwntwn flagship Hudson's Bay department store has been busy sprucing up before Nordies opens next year...they have cut Coach's floor space in half and Marc by Marc Jacobs has moved in. What I didn't know was that other renos were in the works and now Kate Spade has moved in. KS + MbMJ are super close to Coach now. The Bay does not carry MK handbags though - Holt Renfrew does and there's also a dwntwn MK boutique. There's just SO much competition out there and even a shopping bagaholic addict (me) can never keep up - there's too much stock everywhere!
Agree! Bring back Poppy and sale will soar!
coach in canada also has home grown competition from roots which ironically isn't Canadian at all but American but decided to set up shop originally in canada and then expanded into the United States. Which brings me to another point. Coach is made in china AAA grade, Roots is made in Canada. Same price range as well right now. For the same price coach wants you can get something made in canada from roots.Wasn't entirely sure where to post my comment but I know we've discussed Coach's closest competition (stolen market share) here on this thread (probably other threads too) but our dwntwn flagship Hudson's Bay department store has been busy sprucing up before Nordies opens next year...they have cut Coach's floor space in half and Marc by Marc Jacobs has moved in. They assume that the remodels had something to do with increasing business. Maybe the stores they remodeled were already the higher performing locations.Found an article discussing Coach earnings online:
http://www.fool.com/investing/gener...-inc-surprise-wall-street-when-it-report.aspx
"As part of its turnaround plan, Coach is closing around 70 underperforming retail locations, and refreshing its product mix in hopes of becoming more of a "lifestyle" brand like rival Michael Kors. Additionally, Coach plans to remodel as many as 150 of its mall retail stores and 140 department store displays in the year ahead. This strategy is already working for the retailer. In fact, Coach locations that had full or partial remodels performed better than those that had not during the first-quarter."
