Thank you!
Someone told me there was a list on the purse forum. I never saw one and so I said let me ask in case there is a secret group here I don’t know. I’ve been a long time member and never heard but thought I would check.
Sorry
Thanks , I was checking up on information someone said was on the purse forum. Didn’t think they were right but thought I would ask to confirm.
There IS a list on the Purse Forum, but as has already been mentioned, it's not anywhere near a complete list. It just lists some, not all, of the most commonly found fake numbers and is geared mainly toward vintage Coaches. The huge mass of fakes that copy a legitimate style AND also make pretty good copies of the legit style's serial numbers are a different situation and no effective list is possible. Just because a number ISN'T on the List doesn't mean the bag is genuine, which I explain clearly (I hope!) in both.
Too many people seem to misunderstand and think there's one easy answer for every authenticity question. Wrong. If there were easy answers like a list of every fake number the Authenticate This Coach thread wouldn't be 5377 pages long, and I believe there are TWO earlier threads that are, or were, saved in the site archives.
Since I wrote and researched both the Daria48 Fake Coach Numbers List and the six Salearea Coach Guides that are posted in the same thread and Pinned as "Salearea Guides" I concentrated on what I knew best, which is Coaches from about 1980 to roughly 2010. Once Coach started playing stupid games with creeds and serial numbers especially in 2014 to 2017 I stopped wasting my time trying to make sense of what they were doing. That's ALSO mentioned in both the Dari48 List and the Salearea Guides. You wouldn't have found the bag that was authenticated here on the List but it still could have been fake.
But since you asked - for your homework, I'd ask that you read BOTH lists/guides/whatever you want to call them. There's more accurate information on Coach packed into that one thread than what you can find on the rest of the internet put together. I researched everything from scratch instead of copying earlier "authenticty guide's" writers mistakes, and have corrected or updated what I posted if needed.
Again, mostly I concentrated on "vintage to classic" 1980 thru 2010, except for Bonnie Cashin styles. I'm not a huge fan of most of the more recent styles, and frankly, the fakes have simply gotten too good, and I don't have or want the experience it takes to know all those details and collect all those descriptions and photos. Since that's become a universal problem with designer bags and you seem to be a collector of several very highly and accurately-faked luxury brands, I'm sure you understand the problem. Fortunately our other Coach authenticators DO have that experience so I step back and let them deal with the "new" stuff.
So - for what I modestly

believe to be the best and most accurate information on Coach from that time period, go to the Coach Shopping Forum index, and read the entire Salearea Guides thread. Some older links in the earliest posts don't work any more for various reasons, but I try to keep the information current. It's only 5 pages of posts so don't try to rush through it, two decent-size cups of tea should see you through tothe end if you drink slowly. Second, third and maybe even fourth readings are recommended, as is saving the URL:
Now that ebay is removing the guides they've been hosting for years, those who use those guides have been forced to either save them on their computers or print them. Tonight I found that the Salearea guides (including the Hyacinth/Salearea collaboration ones) have been saved to Salearea's...
