(Replying, because I was the original poster to whom sparkle was first replying/quoting. I'm the one who plans to dismantle my original keyring.)
To update, I did indeed purchase the dinosaur/record player/feather/skull/earphones keyring, I will be having it re-rung on PCE tomorrow, and since it is part of my Christmas, I will indeed be dismantling it after Christmas.
Regarding the
new dinosaur/feather on ebay, as linked to above -- nope, the new one would not work for me.

(In fact, a four-legged dinosaur like that, paired with a feather, is actually sort of odd. Or at least, it's completely incorrect based on the fossil records.

)
That new dinosaur is a stegosaurus, a four-legged herbivore. On the contrary, I needed the carnivorous,
two-legged, therapod skeleton as found on the original keyring. ..... Why? Because the two-legged therapods are what evolved into birds, and there is clear fossil evidence that many therapods actually *had* feathers themselves. T-rex? Paleontologists now believe that he was feathered, especially as a baby. Velociraptors (the hunters and killers in Jurassic Park)? They are
proven to have been feathered. They've actually found arm bones with quill-knobs where the feathers attached. .... Proven. ...... Yeah, imagine a giant, carnivorous bird chasing you around Jurassic Park.
See, we have pet parrots (eight at the moment, as we've morphed into a bit of an impromptu birdie rescue). For years, I've referred to our beloved little feather-balls as "our little dinosaurs". When I still worked, I used to have a picture of an archeoptyrex fossil pinned to my cubicle wall. (Archeoptyrex was the first dinosaur fossil found, with feathers.) We even have a tradition in our family... every time a new bird joins us, we, and the birds, spend an evening watching Jurassic Park. Just to remind them of the innate power of their ancestors.
That's why I needed the original keyring, and that's why I'm planning the surgery on it. A two-legged therapod, with a feather, is scientifically sound --- and my keyring will be in honor of our beloved pets.

For anyone who saw my thread in the main Coach section, the resultant product of therapod fossil and feather, will be hanging from my "Lucky" crossbody. Our flock of birdies is just one of the many "lucky" things I've been blessed with in life.
(As for the four-legged herbivores, like on the new keyring, there is no evidence that they had feathers. And they certainly did not evolve into birds. So for Coach to pair a
four-legged, solo, with a feather, makes even less sense. ..... Coach, learn your paleontology!

)
(No, I'm not crazy. Just love my birdies.
