I feel that way every time I look at an LV, Chanel, Gucci, etc. At least this one I will carry. The others I would be afraid to. I am looking at it like 4 regular rogues but way more cool factor. Does that help? LOL I don't do plain very well.

Everyone has to do what they feel comfortable with, but personally I would never pay that for a Coach bag. At least if you pay that for a Louis Vuitton and decide later that you no longer want it, you can recoup most of your money. With Coach the resale value just does not hold up.
That's always something I consider before I buy a bag because I get bored quite easily, no matter the brand.

I lol because I know we all have different budgets, but you all are so casual about buying that croc rogue.... I mean, I think I would have a heart attack if I put that in my cart.
Believe me, it is a stretch for me and have never paid that much for anything other than a car! I haven't delved in to the high end luxury bags yet and have a hard time paying that money for a LV coated canvas bag. I envy and admire them though. I see this bag as a work of art. I love the rogues with embellishments like tea roses. We shall see.....

Well with the crocodile (outside of Hermes), you will never recoup close to what you paid because the mark-up is outrageous and the demand is relatively low. LV and Gucci croc bags sell on the resale market at a huge loss - sometimes as high as 75%. And when you are starting out with a price point of 15k to 25 -30k in the case of LV that is a huge loss.

LV canvas holds its value but the leathers not so much. And Gucci has always had poor resale as its popularity really ebbs and flows.

Resale value is really only a thing for LV canvas, Chanel flaps and other classic designs, and Hermes Birkins, Kellys, and Constances.

If I remember correctly, the alligator croc bag only has the croc in the front of the bag. A SA at one of the NY stores once sent me more photos of it but I don't have them on my phone any more. You can kind of see that if you blow up the stock photos with the woman carrying the bag. Just FYI to those who purchased so you aren't surprised.

I am shocked, but I'm not buying anything. I have the Rogue 36's already, and the Souvenir Rogue which I got at a better price. I love that croc Rogue but wouldn't have bought it at that price. For $1,800 I am going to buy a premier bag. (Although I can't wait to see the reveal pics. )

I have to be honest, I felt sad browsing through the sale. It's the end of the 1941 era, which I really enjoyed at Coach.

Oh well, life goes on....

I an not a LV person, but I can relate to what you say, and I agree. That said anyone that wants to spend a lot on a Coach bag because they love it--well go for it, because if you love a bag, can afford it, then that is all good. But I think some caution has to be exercised--if you plan to keep it and have the potential to decide later you don't care for it as much as you thought. Then you are stuck with a super expensive bag that most people won't want to pay much for later.

And this has nothing to do with the quality--Coach has excellent bags. I have never had quality issues with any of my bags--and many of mine are not the most expensive variety. So I am just speaking generally about resale and price consideration.

See, I feel differently, but I get where you are coming from :-) I am kind over the Rogue era and ready to move on. Just like other things have come and gone....there comes a time where I just want things to move on. I like 1941 bags but never felt they were better than the other bags, but that depends what a person is looking for in a bag.

I totally get where you are coming from :) 1941 bags were either simple in line and style with good leather, or they were very seasonal and trendy with pop culture references that date really quickly. I love the way the Rogues look on my shoulder when I am shlepping tons of stuff to work and back. I never liked the look of a tote bag, and the Rogue is basically a tote bag with more elegant lines lol :D.

I don't purchase my bags to resell although sometimes I do go thru them to see what doesn't work for me any more. I think if you like it, wear it and rock it no matter if it is 20 years later. Styles come and go and this is where some of the more unique bags can shine and worn as "art".

It totally agree, which is why I said buy it and love it for the love of the bag. I just think sometimes it is easy to fall for an expensive bag and feel disappointment later. I say this because I have this happen to me with not expensive bags and feel guilty! lol

Me too. I am going to miss the 1941 - it's what brought me back to Coach (had not bought it since the 90s). I'm not sure how much Coach I'll purchase in the future. I have plenty of 1941 to use in my closet.

1941 wasn't just the quality but the aesthetic was pure Coach and very American (we don't really have a premiere brand), but Coach being Coach (something they seemed to move away from for 15+ years) is worth buying.

I'm not sure I'm as willing to spend on LV, Gucci, etc. as I was prior to returning to Coach though as their prices have gotten insane and Coach buying has given me some price perspective back.

I buy proenza on sale, coach 1941 and occasionally a vintage bal bag . I have thought about getting a dior diorissimo bag since they are shaped like the Rogue, but the ebay selection is sparse (not a current dior style) and the organization inside is not anywhere as nice as the rogue. I will search ebay for hg rogue styles but mostly I am going to stick to my ban until the mid year proenza sale :D
